Engine Cover Foam

Hey all,

Anyone know where I can get the engine cover foam from? Not the hope/bonnet, the one that sits between the engine and the plastic cover//

is it even worth replacing, i removed mine as it was in pieces and didn't notice the slightest difference.

I'm in for the answer as well. The 335d one is in good shape as in appears to be a closed cell type foam. The X5D one I have totally dissentegrated the last time i pulled cover off for an oil change. The foam is there only for acoustics and perhaps to damp vibrations in the cover. Likely only way to get it is buying another engine cover (NOT). Unless the sub part number were dug up. I'll go check realoem for a possible lead.

The foam also holds moisture and can corrode injectors. I removed mine long ago.

Both my x5d and 335d have the engine cover fully removed. Let it breath!!!

The only downside I can see is slower heat up time? But I had no issues this winter In Maine with either of my m57s
