Looks like that sucker (injen) would fit the X5 with no issue... But I'm pretty sure this thing is gonna cost about $300-$400 easily

Yeah... Right now it's Terry's Stg 1 tune, and this weekend finally getting my custom boopie exhaust system put in... Can't wait till Vishnu or one of the other tuners supports the X5...

I see prices being high as this will be the only n55 intake that would work on the market once proven...

And with all that piping they had to use i see it still being in the range of the n54 intake or more $450+

This intake reminds me of the old single cam honda intakes.

The gain is actually a 9whp 12ft/lbs gain as far as peak #s are concerned.

SO until we get a price on this, we can't say if this is a cost effective mod or not... If they are charging 200-300 maybe, but more than 300, I don't think anyone can justify 9 hp and 12ft/lbs of tq.

With a tune that number will be a lot more impressive I think... So would be curious to see what dyno results the N55 will gain with intake and tune, vs intake only...

What do you mean all that piping they had to use? It looks to be maybe a 3"-3.5" pipe a few feet long, not sure of material but even if its stainless it is not very costly. Maybe $40 worth of tubing if its stainless. They are using pretty basic bends, nothing crazy that would cause a fabrication nightmare, a silicone coupler, and a $30 air filter. Plus they added a plastic scoop. Yes it looks decent ( id preferably want the pipe powdercoated not polished/chrome) but nothing to justify a $450+ price tag IMO. Obviously we are all speculating on the price. However if this thing costs $450+ that is just plain nuts, but thats what we get for owning a BMW I guess......we get the "BMW Tax" I will make my own for much much less.

I agree 100% With a tune, you may see more of a gain, plus @ higher boost levels where the stock one may become a restriction it may help as well.

oh, now you say.

did you speak to Paul about this?
I've been email'n back and forth with him.
I"m try'n to get my bimmer down there to fit it on the 335.

also cat's out of the bag.
do you have more shots of the intake - like to see
more of the passenger side angle.
wanna see the lower tubing connection where
the 2 ventilation connection are before the turbo.

Its going to be the same fitment for both. Its the same motor. It doesnt look like it uses anything in the bay to mount.

That piping is just about the same length or longer than most of there CAI's that sell for $300. All there piping is aluminum, the filter is larger than what they usually use in there kits (regular replacement filter is $50), the air scoop then you get the BMW tax plus the extra $ for them being the only ones with an n55 intake.... = $$$ Guaranteed $400+

Not worth it, IMO... Overpriced... A DIY solution would probably provided the same gains, but i'm no expert... A Mr. 5 type modification the the OEM box might be more cost effective and give the same amounts of gain.

But like I said before, we need to see what type of gains this intake would provide when combined with a tune... I think that will show if this is a worth while mod or not.. If this intake is $400, your looking at about $40 per 1hp (10hp max)... vs a tune which provides (depending on which one you get) $12 for a 1hp gain, (procede) or $6 per 1hp (jb3). I know my numbers are very skewed (estimated 70hp gain on a Procede and 50hp gain on a JB3 Stg 1 tune) so take it all with a grain of salt.
