Recommendations on brake upgrade for slotted rotors & calipers

Brakes/rotors are getting worn so I was thinking about doing an upgrade and putting slotted rotors with maybe new brake calipers possibly with a black finish to match my black 2007 335i. I have new 19" rims that really show off the brakes. I occasionally track the car and do some spirited driving. But I realize the upgrade maybe more for looks. I just don't want to cheapen the car with some fake caliper covers or cheap calipers. But don't want to break the bank either. Any recommendations out there for slotted rotors with new black calipers? I have heard of some people just getting the stock rotors painted at a body shop. Not sure about that either. I see a lot of red calipers but not sure how I would like the look.

Thanks,

You can go with Stoptech slotted rotors and a pad that will fit your choice of spirited driving and occasional track days. The rotors will already come with a black hub so there will be no need to go to a paint shop to get it painted.

As for the calipers, you can clean them and then paint them using G2 caliper paint if you are up to the task.

Thanks for the info. I'll check into that. So are you saying go with my stock calipers and use Stoptech pads or buy Stoptech calipers and clean/paint them. I would think if they are new their wouldn't be to much to clean. Sorry for such newbie questions but never upgraded brakes in any of my cars.

I am saying stick to your stock caliper set up and get a nice replacement set of Stoptech rotors and pads. You can clean your stock calipers and paint them yourself.

Sticking to your stock calipers would be the most cost effective method for this. Slotted rotors and some good brake pads such as the Cool Carbons will be a great performance increase while being cost effective. It will also look cool, of course!

Is it possible to go with just aftermarket calipers and the correct size rotor?

Example: Stoptech 6piston calipers plus the correct size rotor from XYZ company?

I couldn't find after market calipers that were NOT in a BBK... you need the BBK if you want calipers because the rotors have to match them.

I am doing Stoptech slotted rotors and pads with stainless lines and 600 fluid. Unless you are tracking all the time, I am told this will be fine - or good enough....
