Yes, it's a good price. Just checked online, the filter in stock is the NAPA GOLD FIL 7560. They are manufactured by WIX. Price is $19.69

The oil kit deal from Tisher is really good.
$97 shipped. I can't beat that if I buy everything separately.
But now that the sell the BMW brand oil, I'm not sure about the quality.


What's the verdict on the Castrol vs BMW oil test?
Was Castrol better since there was less junk built up on the bottom of the test flask?

i was just changing oil second time in half a year, and the reason is that I hear bad reputaiton of castrol oil, and that I should switch to mobil 1, and also, i heard that CASTROL lost an agreement with BMW to Shell, i think starting next year....(i talked to oil shop sales owner, and it was my initiation to change oil after short time again)

First two changes I did I used Pentosin 5W30 - imported from Germany in 5L bottles - and the WIX filters.

My next oil change I will use Mobil 1 ESP 5W30 that was on sale last month. I bought enough for my next three changes. Also bought 3 Mann filters.

I got the big 8L mightyvac and it's pretty easy and clean. Every 5-6k miles.

Like you, I always use my 8 quarts LiquiVac Topsider. Fast, easy and clean job.

I did put a tape on the topsider tube to mark when the tube reach the bottom of the pan. IIRC, from top of dipstick to bottom of pan is 30". This way, no more guessing. If you push the tube too far, it will turn around and you will not be able to extract all the fluids.

Right, I always guess the right depth. I end up pulling the tube out about 1 inch at a time and pump again. If I get 8L (where the mark on the vac is) I'm happy.
Next time I will use the drain plug just to make sure there is no heavy sediment left behind inside the pan.

I've used a topsider for a long time and its great. Just need a new one now since the one I have has sprung a leak.

I think it can be better than gravity drain simply because I can suction the bottom of the sump directly - hear and feel it.

These cars were made to do it, with the dipstick and oil filter on top of the engine. The 335d is even better that I don't have to remove any engine cover like I do for VW and Mercedes.

It gives me comfort to be able to do it right, given how many times I've had dealers and mechanics over-tighten the drain plug or over-fill the oil, etc.

I also use the mightyvac. I love it. I had the cap pop off (safety cable snapped) after pumping it too much the first time I used it. I didn't follow directions and was trying to extract cold oil. After looking into this I read that some people had the tank break/crack and spilled oil everywhere. I now make sure the oil is hot, I don't pump it more than 10 times and as a precaution; I place it inside of a trash can in case it ever leaks/explodes.

Rotella and AMSOil both made the car feel 'sluggish' with noticeable drops in economy, especially towards the end of the operating life of the oil.

I have tried Liqui-Moly both in my TDI and my 335d with the same results - far less 'sluggishness' and noticeable improvements in fuel economy right to the end of the operating life of the oil (i.e. up to 500km before 'calculated recommended change').

I have switched back and forth repeatedly and can reproduce these results at will. Considering the mileage I drive (65,000+++ km/year), I have the opportunity to compare results because of the high frequency of my oil changes, often multiple changes per season.

I'd sacrifice a little fuel economy for the extra wear protection of the T6 Rotella

Just did a change with BMW LL-04.

I still have 2-3 jugs of T6 from my TDI days. Seems 50/50 for / against it in the M57 though.

Not sure if I'll use T6 for the next change, or stick with BMW.
