High mileage e92 owners
Hello, I am coming from an Infiniti g35 coupe in the market for a used modded e92 335i coupe so I do not know much about BMWs in terms of reliability. I want to buy one with CPO warranty and that has had regular maintenance done. I am not looking for one that is over 70k miles. I was just wondering how the high mileage 335i's are holding up for you guys. By high mileage I mean 60k+. Should I stick to lower mileage? Any major problems so far?

Plenty of high mileage guys here.
Just make sure your injectors and fuel pumps are up to date and you would probably want to change spark plugs before you start adding mods and tuning. Let me know if you need any help on tuning or modifications we carry most of the popular stuff and can steer in you a direction that fits your needs. |

I am a recent E92 buyer with 58K miles, got a great price and I love the car. No problems thus far, and will be adding a tune soon. I was just like you, fairly concerned about maintenance and upkeep cost. Its really over hyped in my opinion. Just make you sure you get a good look at all service history on the vehicle, and you should probably have it checked out by AAA or BMW dealer before you buy.

I have an 08 335xi with just under 60k on it. Bought it new (Welt delivery in munich).
The main thing with this car is the high pressure fuel pump which BMW extended the warranty to 8 years, so shouldn't be a problem. There has been a problem with waste gate rattling, but that I think is more of a nuisance than a mechanical problem. At around 60k the problems I have seen the most on the forum seem to be carbon buildup on intake valves which need to be cleaned, failed fuel injectors, coil packs and plugs (especially with a tuned car) and intermittently I've been hearing about the water pump dieing around this time... which is apparently expensive to fix. I also had to have the VANOS solenoids replaced at 53k, which is both cheap and easy to do. I've also heard about vacuum lines becoming an issue around this time also, but that is likely the same with any turbo car at 60k. Overall I love my car, and have no plans to part ways with it for a long time (or until I can afford a 911 turbo) Goodluck! |

Im at 60k FBO plus meth as well, if its CPO just get it and never look back its an amazing platform.
if its not CPO, due a search for comon problems and inspect for those. I have gone through 2 fuel pums and a set of turbos due to waste gate rattle.

Yes good thing the HPFP is covered for a while even without warranty, right? VANOS solenoids, never heard of that before.

Yes. I will make sure I get CPO or extended warranty. On average, I think I drive around 6-8k miles a year give or take so I guess it shouldn't be too bad.

Can't help you here. 16,000miles here
Honestly though, I know many people with high milage 335s and they hold up really well. My friend just reached 60k on his 335 sedan with JB4 and downpipe, no problems except HPFP recall that didn't even fail. |

Bought a daily driven e92 with 47k on it. The guy drove it hard and it had a split second Turbo tuner on it. I put a jb4 and dci on it as soon as I got it. 5,000 hard miles later and I need some rear tires but she has been taking the abuse in glory! Look at Vishnu's 700hp car. It was beaten to 80k miles and then they put the single Turbo on it and have been beating the crap out of it. N54 is the new 2JZ lol... I hope
