Great numbers but it's still a 4 cylinder so until there is a turbo upgrade it's really not a threat to the 335i. At which point, it's still not really a threat... at least not to shiv's 335. It's a great entry engine but do not get confused that this is an EVO motor...

It'll be a threat if it makes 300whp and gets 30mpg

Are you referring to the F10 with the n63? If so Evotech Motorsport has a stage 2 tune that makes 522WHP (baseline of 393)

Yeah, not the M5. I did see that they tuned a 550 to those numbers, but did not see the specifics of the tune. Seemed like an old school flash?

I realize there's not a big market for 550 tuning, but I do think that car will respond well.

The new 550 could be a real bargain performance sedan with the right mods. In the MTech trim it looks great.

I can imagine a weight reduced 128 with this motor in it. A 3000lb car with a tuned N20 would be a blast to drive. As others have stated, this is going to be a huge tuning platform.

The dyno I saw from Evotech was a MAHA and I don't think 522 was WHP. I think the 393 is WHP and the 522 is the interpolated BHP from the same run. I'm also pretty sure the tune is not available in the States.

Unfortunately the only real option for us here is Dinan, which is a nice bump in power (you'll find posts of 12.4-12.9 ~112/113 in the qtr) but you can be sure we're leaving something on the table.

The word is that there is an issue with sourcing a flexray cable that would be used to tune the DME, so most aren't able to offer a solution. A member here (@jimefam) even shipped his car to Shiv for a few weeks, but he wasn't able to make progress.

I bet 350-400hp on that engine pops the engine... I don't have faith in the reliability of an untested un-proven engine.

Didnt we all think 500whp would blow the n54.

I have a feeling that we will see more of these engines pop, plainly due to the fact that the price factor is lower and we will see younger individuals getting there hands on this car pushing it to beat the 335 that they didn't get, then we see some booms.

Yes, inherently we would think that when modding an engine in general. But the inline 6 is a proven solid engine with a long standing reputation for reliability. I think the inherant concern would be more reasonable for an engine that does not a tested/proven track record.

The inline 6 is damn near bullet proof, can't same the same about the 4 cyl, yet anyway.

BMS takes no breaks, already at 335 levels with the N20.

i really wish the 550 would get more attention as its a V8 beast!!!
