Hi all
I just got a quote to replace both of my DCT gaskets pan filter change et al. $2750
I'm thinking no. It's a gasket FFS! I might just buy a used box and keep a spare at that rate lol

Anyone have a better idea? Anyone have a hoist - ill change the c&%ts of things myself.

The gasket, pan and filter is all one unit, then the new fluid is crazy expensive as well (like $600ish). Add in labor, sounds about right!!

Although I do remember a price of about $2000 to do mine at Advan. Could be wrong. Worth a try

So parts are roughly 1k but the rand r the gearbox and two gaskets is 1500. It's a bit much but understandable
I can't stomach that ... anyone have a hoist I can borrow for a day ?

Of the two serviceable gaskets on the dct, one needs the dct to come out or at least drop down significantly. This is for the side mounted mechatronics unit.

The other is the oil pan assembly and much easier/quicker to replace. its actually a straightforward DIY for about $500 with genuine pentosin fluid (less if use another brand).

if you can isolate a potential leak to the oil pan only, this would cost considerably less with either option (diy or shop).

Hi Chris
It's good advice that other people have given as well but theres no way to be sure that it's not the side. If i do the bottom then i still have to pay much of the cost for the side AND the bottom one. I'd rather get it done once, properly. I also like to have confidence in the car im driving. Doesn't inspire confidence if i dont know where a leak is coming from

Regarding access to a hoist, there was this place in metro melb, but i see on their website they are currently not trading...

http://www.youdoitauto.com.au

its a good idea for handy wrenchers. Anyone know of similar businesses in melb or elsewhere?

$2750 thats a big ripoff.
Just DIY it's not hard, all you need is a 3.5ton jack to lift the car high up enough.

Don't have to but if it's the side gasket I've got to pay twice so rather do it once
