BMW according to Bentley manual says NOT TO lube the pins, I think their incline is towards replacing these often rather than servicing. They are not cheap though.

I lubricated mine, but with something safer for rubber.

The pins and the rubber boots they go into need to be checked and replaced if worn out. Pins need to be cleaned good, looking shiny, when doing any break work. Break cleaner and some scrubbing with plastic edge cleans them.

Does anyone have any updates to the thread? It has been VERY informative for a problem that plagues most of us.

I've tried several times to remove them.

Any tip ?
Thanks.

Rotate the rotor until you see the adjustment through the hole. Then use a small flat screw driver to move the adjustment either up or down ( I forget which side does what) . Either way the end result is the tensioner adjustment will loosen the emergency brake shoes and release the rotor.( assuming you already took off the caliper and released the hand brake.)

First pic shows it marked in yellow, looks star-like.

Thank you for the advice.
But my rotor is free to rotate.
It don't move from the hub.
Probably the rust.
I don't want to change my rotor as they are still good. So I can't "destroy" them :/

I think I'm going to give this a try this month as the squeeking is so much more noticeable with the windows down.

- New Meyle rotors (front and rear)
- New akebono pads (hopefully less dust) or maybe Hawk Ceramics
- New sensors

Since the dust shield appears to be the culprit for some has anyone removed it completely?

Did you remove the retaining screw?

Hit it with a rubber mallet.

Spray some PB Blaster in the holes where your wheel bolts go in and in the hole for the retaining screw. Let it soak for 15-20 min then hit with rubber mallet again.

I will try a PB Blaster - like but in France, we don't have PB Blaster, Kano Krail or Liquid wrench.

I've heard that a ATF fluid - Acetone mix is a great solution ...

Make sure parking brake is off first, spray it with penetrating lubricant, and then start beating the shit out of it with a rubber mallet until it brakes free.

How about WD-40? You've got to have some sort of penetrating oil available over there.

I succeeded with a 50/50 mix of acetone/ATF fluid.

But I applied copper grease and the noise is still here
And moreover, my handbrake makes a horrible noise ... I have to unmount my brakes ... again

I'm confident with the noise of the handbrake, but with the other I don't know what to do.
