N53 coil pack failure
Hi
Driving along earlier and the car went into limp mode and shaking. Was a bit P'd off initially as it's recently had 6 new injectors and coil packs and plugs. Any how it turns out the coil pack had marks where the spark had been shorting out. I broke the insulation away to have a look and the spark had charred through the insulation. I bought these packs from ECP about 3 months ago for about 23 quid each on one of their sales. Not worried about the money, more concerned if these are knock offs or is ECP OK like that? Thanks Mike |

Injectors and coils are the two things I would tend to go to a BMW dealer for. Because they are troublesome parts, they are regularly being updated/re-designed and if you want the latest design/part number, best to go to a dealer.
