O/E Silver Wheel Paint Colour/Code
Done a search, no definitive answer found, so some help please.
Need to know a paint code for the “normal” wheel Silver, as 193 -225 -163 wheel types. Did anyone ever get to the bottom of it (no sexual comments please Will), ETK parts system shows two options, “Ferric Grey” & “Silver”, available as a touch up, but still no paint code, just the name. Lots of people say, use “Wurth Wheel Silver” it’s the same, but you cannot go to the refurbishers and say “same as Wurth please”, they want a paint code. Any of those of you that have used Lepsons, can you tell me what you asked for, or were given ??? Spoken to two members of staff, both seem a bit vague when I say “normal BMW wheel silver, they ask for the code, or suggest I go to my local paint supplier and look at their swatches, and note the number. All seems a bit “un-professional”, and I had heard so many good reports about them. Had enough wheel disasters (shipping) already, don’t want to end up with the wrong colour ! Thanks in advance. |

I must admit that for DIY refurbs, Wurth is a good match. I would be concerned about any wheel refurbisher that is asking you what colour the wheels are!

Thanks for the reply, I found the "144" paint code on the ETK, but it says it is for STEEL wheels not alloy ?????
So not sure if it's correct for 193, 225, 163's etc. BMW do a wheel touch-up in "Dekor Silber A55", supposedly for 193 style wheels, so maybe this is correct ??? |

My point exactly, Lepson's have had many recommendations on here, and paint the wheels for a lot of F1 teams, so I find it strange that I got the comments I did, maybe just spoke to the wrong people, or the wrong branch.

Lepsons do loads of wheels for BMW, I'm surprised your being asked for the paint code. Have you taken them (wheels) to Lepsons yet? |

I have spoken to three people @ Lepsons (Swindon), includes the actual sprayer/coater, and all seem not to know, not exactly confidence inspiring ! Just need the wheels done the same as OEM 193, 163, 359 etc. Going to speak to "the sprayer" @ Gillingham HQ this morning to see what he says. Pristine are only five miles from me, but have heard some bad stories, they seem to be a bit aggressive with the stripping etc. Intended to take them this Saturday, but now hesitating, will see what Lepson's HQ has to say this morning. This whole wheel saga, has been doomed from the start. Will send you a PM, Michael. |

I had my Alufelgens done @ Wheel Works in Crawley and was very impressed with the cost (more competitive @£55pw) and the service. I'm in no way knocking Lepsons as I have used them several times in the past and they were excellent, but WW will now get my business based on costs and logistics, there 10 mins down the road for me. You might want to give WW a call, speak to Roger, a really helpful Guy: 01293 527733 http://www.wheelworksuk.co.uk/index.htm |

I have now spoken to "Chris" @ Lepsons Gillingham, knew E46 from E92, and MV3's from CSL's. So now going to use Gillingham branch of Lepsons. For future reference everyone: Their equivalent to E92 193 & 225 style OEM finish etc etc, and E46 CSL OEM finish is "Chrome Silver". Think I am sorted now, thanks to all who contributed. Hi,
No actual Paint Code given on my paperwork from Lepsons, only "Chrome Silver", if you send them an e-mail, sure they will help. info@lepsons.com |

Finding Wheel Paint Colour (Color)
The quickest (and reliable) way of finding a paint code/colour is by using an on-line OEM parts catalogue - this one seems to work well (I suspect there's others) - http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/

I contacted BBS USA and was told that the closest match for BBS CH bright silver paint is a Volkswagen/Audi color L8Z8.
