ISTA D install trouble

I followed everything in the attached text file, I ran as administrator but get this error. I have the bimmergeeks install for BMW standard tools.
And I put the shortcut on my desktop instead of the BMW tools folder but I don't think this matters.

The only thing encountered during the install was that one of the pre-install files for the .NET framework did not install because I already have a version installed.

Not sure why it did not work?

Add this to the configuration file:

<add key="BMW.Rheingold.Programming.PsdzBackupDataPath" value="%ISPIDATA%\BMW\ISPI\data\TRIC\ISTA\Temp\"/>

Also you must be sure to have a complete set of Microsoft C++
installed.
Everything must be done as Admin to be safe.
Update the Microsoft stuff from the Microsoft site.

I didn't have the 2017 version of C++ so I installed it. Didn't help unfortunately. Should I try to repair the older ones or are they not
used?

Which version of windows do you have ?
Did you install standard tools and get it working first
the way the Bimmergeeks instructions tell you to.
Did you install and register the three .ocx files.

I would uninstall and reinstall. That error indicates a problem with them config file I told you. You could try to find a good version. The cartechnology forum is good for it...

I installed the version on the bimmergeeks website. No I did not register three .ocx files, it was not in the instructions. I posted the instructions above.

What version did you use?

He was referring to the OCX files in the Standard tools install. Did you have the standard tools installed corrected and working with no errors first?

The BG ISTA pkg is probably one of the easier ones to install correctly, Win 7 or Win 10, but you need to have Standard Tools working correctly first.

Everything except WinKFP works perfectly. INPA, NCS Expert, NCS Dummy, BMW Coding Tool. I used INPA and NCS yesterday to read codes and do some coding for key auto eject.

WinKFP gives me this error when I try starting it, but I never use it so I just ignored it.

Which version of windows?
Is it a PC or an Apple product.
The ocx files are somewhere in the standard tools instructions I believe.
step 5 and 6

1. Run St212.exe using all default settings except the 4 checkbox options in the "select additional task" window regarding "backup and restore" and "create desktop/quick launch icons" .
(If using Windows 10, run in st212.exe in "Compatibility Mode" for Windows 7)

2. After install completes, select "No" to restarting PC.

3. Navigate to your C:\ drive and delete the folders labeled "EC-APPS, EDIABAS & NCSEXPER"

4. Replace those folders with the "EC-APPS, EDIABAS & NCSEXPER" from this download by copying them to the C:\ drive.

5. Copy the 3 files inside the OCX folder and paste them in the C:\Windows\Syswow64 folder. If you do not have this folder you are a 32-bit system meaning you need to paste them in C:\Windows\system32 instead.

6. Open Command Prompt as administrator & enter the following commands. Please note if your 32bit system, start on the 2nd line: If you have issues getting the commands to succeed, make sure your running command prompt as administrator.

cd c:\windows\syswow64
(Press Enter)
regsvr32 mscomctl.ocx
(Press Enter & wait for "Registration Succeeded" message)
regsvr32 msflxgrd.ocx
(Press Enter & wait for "Registration Succeeded" message)
regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx
(Press Enter & wait for "Registration Succeeded" message)

7. Place the "BMW Tools" folder(BMW icon) on your desktop. Shortcuts to all the software are inside.

8. Make sure your cable is set to COM-1 with a Latency Timer as 1 in device manager.

9. Reboot Computer.

10. Installation is complete.

I think you have to have the cable plugged into the car to have NCSexpert and Winkfp run.
Always check that Inpa is running before any NCS or winkfp programming . If I do not use my setup for awhile I have come back to find
that the some of the usb cable settings have reset. The one that you set to 1 from 16 and always
use the same physical usb port.
And I suppose you know how to unpack zip files. ?
And everything is done under the Admin login.
The admin login is found in the Power Shell (or renamed the Power Shell from command prompt)
in Windows 10.

Looks like Bimmergeeks has a new Standard Tools, I have the version listed in the attached PDF. My version was released 2017-10-16, the new version is 2018-02-07.

I'm okay with installing the new version but will it cause issues? Is there a safe way to un-install the old version or is it not required.

I have Windows. Would ISTA-D not work with the version I have?

You still did not state the version of windows xp, 7 or 10

You can run the Inpa suite on any version of windows but if
you want ista I would stick with windows 7 to 10.

Also did you not get the Bimmergeeks files directly from the bimmergeeks
site and the Mega links they post.

I did a reinstall of Standard tools and Ista around December of last year
using there files and it worked perfectly and it was a lot easier than what
I had to go through to get it going on and older windows 7 computer about
4 or 5 years ago using one of of the English coding site downloads. https://www.e90post.com/forums/editp...ost&p=24684103
I also have a 300mb download speed now instead of barely 25 then which
meant the downloads took less than an hour instead of days.

I would first try to repair the steps you missed.
check the dates on the source files.
It looks like that file you listed comes from somebody
that wants to sell you install services.

If you skipped the ocx file placement and registration I would
try that first.

The thing is, ISTA D does not require BMW Standard Tools to start....or work.

I use an ICOM with my ISTA D windows tablet and it works fine. No standard tools in sight.

It's likely to be a problem with your vcredist installations.

Uninstall then and reinstall them from a different source...

The only thing it really installed is the c++ stuff. Do you mean to uninstall all of those pre install files?

If you use the Bimmergeeks install with a K/D can cable it does require
the Inpa for the K/D can cable so you can select the ediabas option
in the Ista interface selection. I don't think a lot of the people are buying
Icom cables at 300 bucks for a cheap clone here and the Standard tools seems to be the best way for
quick and precise coding.

Also the ocx files have been a part of the install for a long time.
