This is so dope! Cudos to you brother. Btw does the original color of the leather have a color effect on the overlaying dye? Such as if you went from tan to red, would the red to seem kinda brownish?
Or would you just add as many coats it takes to make it opaque?

Update 12/08/12, I got home from the Tampa International Car Show today and my cinnamon dye from Leatherique arrived. I was only able to remove the rear seats, took apart the center arm rest and seat backs (the side exposed in the trunk, it's just held on with glue) to prep and sand out any weak black dye with a 25/75 Iso alcohol/water mix.
I used a high quality acrylic brush and started on some of the seams because I was anxious to see the color These pictures are after two coats, I'm going to do the entire back seat tomorrow, should take less than an hour to do 3 coats total, they recommend a 15-20min dry time, but a 48 hr cure time for the dye to lighten up and settle completely. Here are the 12/08/12 update pics

The entire back seats will be "dyed" using a 25% water 75% cinnamon dye mix with a GRACO 3900 air paint gun for light, even, consistant coats for the remaining portion of the seats. More pics to follow.

this is amazing. I want to do mine too! lol
I hate the standard gray leather. If I could opt for black outer / blue inner's like the sport package seat option on the E39 M5's I'd die of happiness. |

12/09/2012 8:27am update
First coat on with the GRACO 3900 HVLP, just waiting for it to dry so I can sand it down with 3000grit paper to smooth out any drips

***Update 2nd coat is now on***
12/09/2012 9:34am BTW My photo's are compressed to fit this page so it may look "weird", but I assure you, the results so far are fantastic and as expected. I'll post larger pictures in better detail once finished. Just waiting for it to dry to put on the final coat
