2011 Brake Pads?

Is BMW using a different type of brake pad on the 2011 models compared to the 2009 models? I know there has been a lot of cost cutting going on and I'm wondering if the brake pads are one of the cost cutting items.

I had a 2009 328xi and the brakes had a lot of bite to them compared to my 2011. The pressure and firmness are the same, but it just doesn't bite as much if that makes any sense. I also noticed that I have almost zero brake dust on my rims on my 2011 compared to my 2009 which had brake dust all the time!

I wonder if BMW either cost cut or watered down the pads due to people complaining about brake dust...

close to 700 miles on mine, virually no dust. The initial bite is less than any other bimmer I've driven but linear and pedal fell is similar to my 535i, the only diff is dust. My 2008 535i wheels will be covered by dust around 200-300 miles (it's auto). Hope BMW has OEM pads for older bimmer with this compoind now, will check with part dept.

Hmm....I have aftermarket dustless pads and they bite like a biatch. Does yours get any better after the brakes warm up?

I had a 2007 335i coupe and now have a 2011 335i coupe, and other than the dust being gone I don't notice any difference in brake performance.

This is actually the opposite of a cost cutting measure. Manufactuers have been going to ceramic based compounds that reduce dust, decrease noise and have good wear. The have a different feel that some of the older more conventional compounds but they tend to hold up better to heat so they are more consistant.

Love the fact that there is no dust. My Lexus use to have dust but they changed the brakes to stop it and it reduced the bite of the brakes. The BMW brakes seem to be alot better and have no dust

I've got about 1000 miles on the car. They seem to perform a little better when warm, but still not as good.

I don't notice mine being overly "bitey" but I've never felt that they were inadequate. But then again I was coming off an E46 with smaller brakes. Dust pad is absolutely minimal. Practically as good as the best dustless pads out there. Amazing really and I already take it for granted.

Same here.

I really, really notice a reduction in the dust - and thought maybe I was crazy until I saw this thread.

+1 on reduced brake dust.

I did notice that they seemed to have less bite initially, but that gradually went away. Break-in?

I'd keep an eye on this new compund cause I'll buy one for 535i if they make them. Super tired washing wheel every 2-weeks even when it's not raining casue the wheels look like crap.

Anyone knows who is the vendor for 2011 BMW brake pads?
