Rear window on E91 - a bang and the mechanism's all seized up with the window down.
Haven't looked inside yet. Common problem? Has the cable snapped? |

Window regulator failures are common enough, but either way you’re going to have to remove the door card and the liner to see what’s exactly is going on. Just Google e90 window regulator diy. There are tons of videos.

Must be the plastic bushing at one end of the cable broke. The original design is unreliable and flimsy, and this is a common problem.
See if you can source Aisin brand regulators across the pond in UK. These are supposed to be updated designs. Aisin regulator: The info sheet inside the box describes the different design by Aisin to improve on the factory junk, including the use of a metal cable spool: See post #29 here: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...1581389&page=2 |

My regulator is a different design to that, completely.
and as you can see, the cable snapped and snarled up... Easy fix though, with parts from Amazon next day |

That looks like the same old factory style, which is the left picture on the Aisin instruction sheet. Amazon is fine if it worked out. I just think Aisin's improved design should last longer.
