I'm not sure which intake scoop you purchased but here's a video of the aFe air intake scoop being installed on our project 135i. It's extremely easy to install and does not require you to drill your front bumper or use double sided tape that most other system require.

You don't. The procedure is the same for E90 and E92

You dont NEED to remove the grilles; right... But its so much easier to do so with the grilles off.

Here's a quick DIY. But i'm doing it with my memory so its not as detailed as a real DIY could be. I dont think you need pictures for that anyway.

1- Unscrew the two bolts on your vent duct right on top of the grilles. You need a torx10 screwdriver if my memory's right about the size; but definitely a torx.

2- Unpop the two pushpins that are on each side of the duct.

3- You can now remove the duct.

4- You have to remove the grilles now; put your fingers in the grilles itself and look for clips on the inside. Push them and you'll feel the grilles coming off. There's 5 or 6 of them. Do it slowly just to make sure you dont break anything.

5- Once the grilles are off, put your scoop in the grille's hole and put the air duct back. The screw and the pushpin on each side should be clipping in the two holes that are on your scoop; and they should clip it tight. If not, repeat step 5 until its tight. If its not tight, you'll hear a metal rattling sound while accelerating; not cool.

Go easy on the pushpins. They are tight to clip since they're not made for that. I broke one and couldnt find any replacement anywhere so I had to go to the dealer to get robbed; paying $4 for one small plastic pushpin.

6- Once both scoops are tighly fixed, you can put back your grilles back; which is a no brainer really. You push them in the holes and you'll hear the clips. Make sure its tight before considering it done.

7- And if you followed everything correctly, both screws and both pins should be fixing the duct tight with the scoops.

That's about it. On a personnal note; I dont think it did anything "performance wise" other then improve the MPG when going the distance. I personally did 926km with a full tank while cruising at 110KM/H; that was well worth the investment that alone.
