Anybody know what size pistons the 335i oem brake calipers use?

Bump.. and subscribed for the answer.
There's got to be someone with a definitive remark on this. Provide it, and I'll provide as much of a comprehensive analysis on 335i brake options as I have the E46 M3, which can be found here. Cheers! |

No worries! I just figured I'd bump your thread. Those are the only two bits I need to plug into my Brakenstein spreadsheet.

I probably should have been more specific about the year ranges.. the ones we're referring to are the floating style, not fixed.
As such (at least for the 335i), there is only one piston per caliper. Either way, the piston count numbers one (1) per caliper and wasn't what we were after, but the piston diameter. |

Hi! Im looking for this info too - trying to compare rear 335i brakes to e92 m3 rear brakes.
I'll be using rear M3 brakes with the 335i master cylinder and want to see how thats going to affect brake balance with the OEM 335i fronts. Last edited by Nigelo; 11-14-2012 at 03:27 PM.. |

size of your caliper piston
Well, so it happens that I have one in my hand s I'm writing it... what to hell, I hope you need the front ones ( don't have the rear taken apart ) and I should say that this is of a 2010 335i front caliper ( donor car )
I hope that you don't want it like super exact, since I have my caliper at work and tape measure with me only, so hope this helps. I can tell you that it is made out of some kind of aluminum or magnesium cast, since it is very light but has the grey metallic color to it. Made by ATE ( their logo stamped on the top of the piston and the numbers 5028 ). Over all depth ( top to bottom outside ) 2" 3/16 inside the piston depth ( top to bottom ) 1" 7/8 Outside Dia 2- 5/16" inside Dia 1- 13/16 groove for the seal 1/8" depth of the groove 1/8" Hope that helps Last edited by MyF15+F85; 11-14-2012 at 08:22 PM..
