265/30/19 Tyre Question?
It is time to replace original Bridgestone RE50A run-flat rear tyres after 38,000k's. They are 255/30/19 on 9" style 313 rims. 2010 E92 335i.
I am thinking of going up one size to 265/30/19 and wanted some feedback on this size tyre on 9" rim. Not fussed if RFT or not. (I didn't find the RFT's that bad). Do others on this forum run this size on 9" rims & what are your thoughts? Thanks in advance for any comments. |

Not always..... It will depend on the tyre and how straight it stands. As the rim is only 9" wide, the 265/30 tyre will have a "square" fitment where a 255/30 tyre will curve in at the top and have a little stretch. I had no problem with Falken 265/30 on a 9" but when I replaced with 265/30 Khumo, I had the occasional scrape over bumps. Ultimatly had to replace with 255/30 in Khumo.
A 265/30 on a 9.5" rim will work fine as the tyre stretches on that size and will give the curve on the top edge to clear the inside of the guards. Similarly a 275/30 on a 10" wide rim. This was my experiance.... |

Unfortunately it's a combination of the two. My experience is based on standard m-sport setup. Not all 265/30 tyres will play nice on a 9" rim. In my case it was ever so little but so annoying when the tyre scrapped the guard lining. The good guys at Bob Jane swapped them out at no charge after a month.

different tyres have different sidewall construction, i.e some are rounder/bulge more than others
your 265/30/19 setup on your 313 style wheel will be fine even with the thicker sidewall of the RFT's |

Tyres such as Michelin, Contis, Bridgestones, Goodyear, Kumho etc in 265/30/19 will be fine on your E92. Stock rear wheels are 19x9" ET39 - It will have plenty of clearance unless your wheel alignment is completely wrong.

I think your car is quite low on HR Sport. However I expect it to be still fine. There are plenty of people on the US forums using 19x9.5" ET33 rears with various types of 265/30/19 and various drops. That is recommended fitment from several wheel vendors for the E92, although it can be close in some cases. ET39 means 6mm of extra fender clearance, so 265/30/19 on stock 19x9" ET39 wheels is a very safe fitment.

'11 E90 will have less space than E92. '11 E92 will be fine as I wrote above. The later models E90 will be tighter fitment on the rear.
Still will be a reasonable fit on the E90 unless you have lowering springs or coilovers and some other issues. Rubbing may occur if your wheel alignment is wrong or you intend to fit a track tire. |
