From the pictures ASR has posted, they've just modified the stock turbos with larger compressor wheel and larger turbine wheel.

This is exactly what (www.BoostedBimmers.com) sells, they charge $2300 + core for their turbos.

I wonder what ASR will charge, and what WHP/WTQ figures they claim with their turbos.

i dont think so... more like Garrett "parts" but not actual turbo. I'm sure for their real turbo upgrade (not modified stock turbos) will be some sort of Garrett turbo.

Not true. They have modified the factory compressor cover and turbine housing to accept an entirely new garrett GT series CHRA. It IS an entirely new turbo, but with the stock housings modified to fit around it. There's not a single part on those turbos except for modded housings that's stock, save maybe the wastegate flapper and actuator depending on how they are setting up boost control.

Ah your right sorry forgot to mention the porting they did on the compressor housing and for the turbine wheel...

I stand corrected

So I'm assuming for Stage 1, we just send in our stock turbos to get modified...and for Stage 2, we get totally different Garret turbos with upgraded fuel system and all the bolt ons?

I believe the point is that they are +45whp with NO TUNE.

If you pair them up with a proper custom V3 or JB3 map, they can move your +110 jb3/v3 output up to some ridiculous number.

If I was to guess.. at the same 15 lb of boost they will give you another 40-50 hp over the stock turbos since it can hold the boost at higher rpm much better than the oem ones.

Don't think so...stg2 is probably same turbos with upgraded fuel system and possibly other bolt ons. 99.99% sure they will stick with these turbos for stage 2. Unless you expect stage 2 to be more than 550whp

I would be very happy if this project concludes to a finished product that generates 450whp+
This is almost double the power output of the stock N54.
My guess is, that such level of power in combination to the weight difference , M5/M6 would really suffer to stay beside a 335i.
If ,on the other hand, the powerband will reach the 550whp I wonder if we could stand beside cars like 997 or GTR (Maybe stupid comment but I have really no idea what could happen there)

Even with no tune, if it is +45 WHP all the way to red line with no trail off towards high rpm, the increase in the area under the curve is still worth it.

No, as already stated, you ARE getting Garrett turbos if you buy the turbos that you see on the first page. They machined the stock covers to accept entirely new guts...garrett guts, and replaced the mitsu guts. There's nothing mitsu left except a hogged out turbine housing and a machined compressor cover.

I don't really know how else to say it.

That is correct, they are no longer mitsubishi cartridges. They have been replaced with custom made Twin Ballbearing Garret cartridges. There is a lot of work involved in the tooling and machine work, along with all the retrofit fittings for the water and oil lines. Most mills that machine turbine housings are tooled for just the housing, not the manifold and housing together. This was quite an extensive process, along with the fact that the overall finished product is the exact same overall dimensional value as the stock turbo. This allows everything to fit just like factory, intercooler piping, dp's, intake tubing, etc.
