Hi chaps – First time posting 😊 Would anyone know what this noise could be, when turning the engine off. It started a few weeks back (typical after its come back from BMW for an MOT). The car starts, idles and drives spot on. The noise seems like it coming from the High pressure Fuel Pump area or that side of the engine. Sounds like its some kind of compression or piston noise??

Any ideas? Hoping its an easy and no so expensive fix.

My car is a 2010 325i if that helps with 80+k miles if that helps?

Relax, that noise is completely normal. It is a pressure relief valve releasing pressure in the crankcase on switch-off.

P.S. You clearly look after your engine bay, so you might want to fit the black plastic cover on the oil cooler (part number 11427537294) shown here as number 11:

Thanks Phil325i, is this something that comes with age as it never used to do it, it started a few weeks back after coming back from BMW for an MOT. Also will look into the oil cooler cover

Not that I'm aware of. Mine's made that noise for years...
