Akebono pads with Zimmerman rotors are a great combination, my E92 loves them.

Wasn't a fan of the pedal feel with Akebonos so I stick with ECE R90 pads for street cars. Textar epads are supposedly lower dusting

I recently bought these Zimmerman rotors with TRW pads in a kit from FCP. I'm very happy with them for dd purposes.

Seconded. I had akebonos before and was never a fan of the lack of initial bite. TRWs are much better. TRWs do have a touch of dust though (very minor, but noticeable between car washes), whereas akebonos felt like they had almost zero dust.

I have akebono+zimmermann combo on E90 (335d), E91 and E70 (35d)
Overall very positive experience and, of course, I wash my rims once a year now.

Note: E91 fronts have annoying clicking noise from akebonos.
E90 & E70 does not have this issue.

Perhaps, consider upsizing your E91 with 335 calipers/rotors/pads.

I might do that at some point but for now these work, Not the best bite on initial step but I expected that from a low dust pad. Thinking I might pick up some oem pads or textars.

My car sees more highway mileage than around town, because I walk to the store. It's 1/2 mile to grocery store so I use it as part of my exercise routine. lol.

Textar is nice replacement with good bite, but the whole low dust thing is a lie. My silver wheels are black after one week of highway driving.

No issues for me with Akebonos and Zimmerman's on all four corners. Rims stay nice and clean and they stop just fine. I had to avoid an accident the other day and I easily activated ABS with them.

I went with Zimmerman sport z coat (drilled) and ate ceramic pads. Rake dust is much much lower than the bmw stock pads and disk braking is way better.

Highly recommend a dsc recalibration after new brakes are fitted. Huge improvement in brake feel.

Akebono's were the first aftermarket pad I went with when it was time to replace my OEM pads (this was over 8 years ago mind you). Although the low dust aspect was amazing, the lack of initial bite was noticeable. Nothing you couldn't get used to. If you live in an area that experiences low temperatures in the winter I would caution you about these pads. If the car is completely cold soaked you WILL need to be very aware of slowly warming up your rotors/pads as your FIRST brake application will feel completely wooden, almost like when you melt the pads on a track from hitting the high temp limits. To some this can be concerning. Just something to be aware of based off of my own personal experiences. If you live in a temperate climate this is less of a concern. I personally would go with the updated OEM pad offering that went away from the metallic pads (best bite, worse dust) and went with a ceramic offering.

The "brake" light has lit up on the dash of my 11' e91 wagon.
Unsure if both the axles need a brake job or just one.
Would like to hear the best option for brake job
BMW OEM or OE?
I prefer OEM but open to suggestions
Also any feedback on pricing for the brake job would be appreciated
