Wow. Hex trim. That's pretty rare on a 335. You are lucky! The trim ring is what is standard on a pre-LCI though.

It's one of my favorite options I have! Also, I didn't realize that until you mentioned it. Looking back at photos of my old E90 330i, I saw it also had the aluminum ring. Definitely a nice touch for the LCI models I think

I'm local to IND, so I went there to pick it up, and they gave me a discount, and a couple trim removal tools for free. They're really great people there, and I don't have an issue paying a bit more for better service

That's pretty insane though. $127 for a $5 part. They would have had to give me 50+ trim tools for it to even be worth it.

A new ignition module is ~$110. If there is a way to just replace the trim or button let us know, my button is starting to fade a bit.

They have just the button cover for sale. It would appear its possible to just replace that. Still a little on the expensive side for whats essentially a piece of plastic, but much more affordable.

been sitting in the garage for weeks. The RR jack pad is off, and I got the Vaico replacement (bought qty 5 for the future!), but have not installed.

Trans fluid change done by Eurotech in Natick, MA.

Shifts *much* better. Apparently old fluid was quite bad, and about a quart less than it should've been. 105K on the GM trans.
Not sure if I should be worried about the 'missing' fluid, though 1 quart in 100k miles / 11 years isn't too bad.

RE Eurotech: Great shop, happy with the service, and they seemed to be careful about covid transfer, changing gloves between cars, wrapping the steering wheel with plastic wrap. Can't remember who on here recommended them, but happy with it!

In the garage I've been busy with this thing... new tires, new seats, new headlight, rebuilt front shocks, swapped handlebars, new tail tuck, new turn signals, oil, coolant, filter changes... would've ridden today except for the snow.

Starting the process of custom fitting a Torsen spool from an old Z3 into a 188LW diff housing. Been in contact with Performance Gearing as well as MFactory for advice and I think it’ll be doable!

This also means the clutch type 188mm size spoils can be fit into the new housings with some shimming and backlash adjustment.

Could be a decent way to a “poor mans” LSD unit for the NA RWD I6 cars

I will be documenting it in some way shape or form yes. Might be a post in my build thread or might be a whole thing itself. I’m fortunate to have access to milling and turning machines and enough knowledge to get myself in trouble. I’ll be able to share the specifics of what happens but I’ll also point to resources that I used along the way. I try hard not to recreate the wheel so somethings will be lightly documented.

Im still working but planning on putting on putting in time on Griso this evening while the girlfriend is working on her Spanish. Next week will be fitting the track bodywork to the Ducati in the hopes that race tracks are going to open this season. Really other than rider meetings and whatnot its easy to keep your distance but business restrictions might be a problem.

I wouldn't be too worried. Cut the service interval to 50K for fluid changes though. It will be happier.

Very carefully. Heat gun helps. You will probably need a dremmel.

You will need some sort of water proof sealant when you put it back together.

DONT TOUCH ANY OF THE SILVER/ CHROME PLATING IN THERE. you will be 🤬, if you do.

Honestly, if you can fork over $400.00 for a used one, in very good condition, it's worth the time & money.

This isn't a fun DIY, and it's stressful.
