Made a backup of my idrive hard drive. If that thing dies then a replacement will be easy.

Installed my rear deck sun shade... After having it sit in the garage for a year.
Sadly the motor was bad and I tried to repair it, gorilla glue did not hold. A pin through the stud would’ve worked but I was tired of messing with it, so I’ll just manually roll it up.

Fixed a bolt through the shade base so the arms could still move.
Also the tab i put to pull it up looks hideous. I can pull it up from the sides with no tab.

Also had to paint the very back plastic black. Up until today, that parts had never crossed my mind.

Got the fronts in and slotted the strut towers while I was at it. (Has to take the back half apart to fix a mistake. Having done so I'm getting pretty fast.)

Changed brake fluid, this type I used a one way valve bleeder. I am quite impressed, it was a one person job, for less than $10 on eBay it is a bargain. My parts guy had this fluid in stock: Pentosin, not sure if it is better than most? Brake pedal is firm and stops well.

Nice! Do you remember the name of the seller on ebay? I might have to pick up one of those. I have a power brake bleeder which works pretty well, but there are a few vehicles I service for family/friends that I don't have an adapter for.

I bought it last March and used it the first time this weekend, like most eBay items of this sort there are many sellers of the same item. I couldn't tell the difference in the product so it's a matter of price and shipping time which takes a while, here is a small list of what I get when I click on the item now.

Yup. Removed the hard drive, plugged it into my PC with a 2.5" IDE to USB adapter, and ran a sector-by-sector backup of the whole drive.

Follow this guide through Step 4 for removal:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1426773

An important thing is that the pins are exposed and can be easily bent. Also, only handle it by the sides. Do not press on the top of the drive.

Nice! Maybe I should hold off on ordering anything from China.

that reminds me of the speed bleeders.

make sure you seal the threads of the bleeders or they will suck air back in passed them.

They are on the path of recovery and the shipping time is so long the virus should be dead. That's my rational, my wife's Volvo needs an abs sensor and the local prices are ridiculous so Chinese Ebay to the rescue

Took it out for short drive. Was quickly reminded of this squeek/crackling noise suddenly around my drivers side window frame. Very annoying. Will address it, once things somewhat get back to normal.

How much was the motor you replaced?
I searched and found the motor for $170 new.
Or a used shade assembly with old motor for $80.
Bmw doesn’t sell the motor by itself.
