Installed MSDS stage 1 intake!!
Let me start off by saying thank you very much to Marty and MSDS Inc. for making such a great product for our 335's!!
It took me about 15 minutes to install this intake, its very simple and straight foward... Just pull off the stock airbox and you have a lot more room to work with... Then just put the piping in and your good! So i did a few back to back runs and then opened the hood right away to check the temp of the piping and filter, the stock plastic airbox is always hot but this piping is cool... You can feel a good gain in power from 5500-7000rpm and the motor screams a lot louder than the stock airbox with my ITG filter in it... Here are some pics of the system installed! |

Nice!! What was the cost? What would you say the gain was if you had to guess?

nice looks great! i may do an intake upgrade soon too... i wanna see first what other companies have to offer.
EDIT: oh btw.. you still have the port that the turbo tuner plugs into right? its right below the stock airbox.

Ok not only can you not spell but that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard!!! Its a pipe with a filter??? Thats like saying a good exhaust system is just some pipes mith some mufflers... I mean thats just what it is... What were you expecting? The airflow is increased significantly so more air and fuel equals power right or powder as you called it... This intake isnt the Messiah of power gains but every little thing helps and it got an extra 12whp on the dyno so thats good for me!

...I'm not too familiar with performance mods for a crown vic , but on BMWs, mods like intake change the sound of the car. Seeing as how the OP is a friend, I was simply stating that I am looking forward to hearing the change in sound. Comprende?

I see an aftermarket BOV installed. Seems like theres very little room for the MSDS intake next to it. Is it rubbing?

Yeah, now that I look at the pics, why couldnt the lower intake track come in at the bottom of the pipe? Why did it have to curve all the way up and around to the top?

I would LOVE to hear how an aluminum tubing with a cone type filter with NO HEATSHIELD at all is going to provide an increase in power compared to the OEM intake that is not restricted at all, is completely sealed and does not heatsoak. If this intake gives 12whp then a completely sealed system will give 20WHP! Be real. This intake is getting all the heat from the engine bay and I can be sure a direct comparison between this filter and the OEM will yield very close if not the same airflow.
Maybe your aggresiveness and defensive behavior is due to the simple fact that you do not have an answer for this. Just answer my question as to the reason why this intake increases power to as high as you claim instead of going around and try to ignore my comment. |

I dont think you understand how a turbocharged engine works, i dont want to sit here and educate you about it... But the arguement is over before it could be started, a dyno with the stock airbox compared to an airbox with an ITG drop in filter yeilded 4whp on a dyno with the ITG... This intake got roughly 13whp on a dyno over a stock car so there is some gain, you do not lose power if you gained hp on a dyno right? Ok keep following, In a sealed system you said it yourself, its sealed so its not going to draw in as much air as an open conical air filter will, i would guess thats where the power is coming from... Now show me a dyno from another company that makes a sealed intake for our cars that gains 20whp please... |

Ok. I`ll get some pipes from home depot and weld them together and put in a filter. Should do 12Whp easily! Their CAI is something very ingenious and I might actually look after it but this is |
