i-drive retrofit - options to power controller?
I picked up a 2011 328i parts car with i-drive and combox. All parts including the dash are going into my 06 325i that does not have i-drive. I was able to remove all the needed wiring except for the power for the controller. I have the screen wiring all the way to the JBE. What is the best way to find the correct power source for the controller? The pdf says junction at x9331 located in the driver’s side footwell or Pin #3 of connector x11003 at the back of the fuse box/JBE. Are there any other options that are simpler? Some have mentioned just hooking to the power connector on the back of the CIC wiring.
This will be my 2nd cic retrofit. The first was a CCC to CIC in my E70 so all the wiring was already in place for that one. For my E90, having the parts car for the wiring has been a huge help. I even got the GPS and Sirius wiring to the shark fin. |

Thanks for the replies. I did the install last weekend. I checked out both options and the X9331 was much easier to get to. Remove the drivers kick panel and pull back the carpet and it right there along the floor pan edge just as it starts to rise up. I had the carpet loose and ran the wire along with the gps and sat wires under the drivers seat. The red w/ white stripe ends at that connector.
I also pulled the fuse box thinking that since the dash was off it would be easy. That was not the case as the wires hold the thing tight and it is very difficult to see the back side. |

Man I did my iDrive retro this past weekend and what a PITA getting that fuse panel loose was. I ran the controller power wire to pin 3 of the x11003 connector. I did it this way because I did a heated seat retro at the same time and needed the fuse panel down regardless.
