Why would you put so much down on the lease? You should have had them cut you a check for the difference. Sure your payments would go up but you could put the difference in a CD or something.
If you wreck the car *knock on wood* you'd be out a lot of cash.

Maybe I'm confused but from what I know (and it's not a lot) gap insurance and car insurance will only cover the value of the car and not what the loss of your down payment will cover.

I've heard of a lot of stories that someone lost their lease down payment when the car was totaled.

Having the same payment is another thing though. If you want to let them have the money so you can have a lower payment, more power to you I guess.

Hey guys, I'm in a very unique position. So let me just lay it out for you, and see if I can get some good advice, because i have never leased before. Anyway, I'm looking at having a total of $22k to $25k that I will be able to throw down on a lease. Now, due to the unusual circumstances I will be paying for the entire lease upfront. Right now I'm planning on getting into a 08 or 09 335i coupe pretty much loaded. Does this seem like a reasonable situation? Thanks for reading, and any help would be appreciated, thanks guys.

How much was the wheel and tire insurance? Was putting multiple security deposits an option?

Hi guys, I'm currently all set to go with a lease for 30 months on a 08 e92 335i. Now what I'm wondering is if I could get a better deal if i held off until the new year to sign the lease, would the numbers change at all in the new year, and would the fact that it's an NEW 08 being leased in 2009 favor me in any way?? I know dirt about leasing and I was hoping you guys could help me on this one.

There's gotta be better deals out there for 335i's. Beverly Hills BMW is offering well equipped E90 M3's for $799+tax/month with absolutely ZERO (read as no money out of pocket) drive off. 10k miles per year on a 39 month term.

Saw the add in this weekend's LA Times classifieds and couldn't belive it my self. So I called them up and it's very true. They have 4 at this lease deal. Out of my budget but would be a great deal for someone out there.

Waddup Doggy Dogg?

I ain't a baller like you Long

My monthly allocated funds for a car payment can't exceed $500

I've gotten a couple of quotes and I might have a 335i really soon. I've given up on my Porsche Cayman /Porsche 996 C2 dream.

Will be hitting you up for parts really soon

I don't know about your neck of the woods.
I believe that part of this is true. With a lease most company's nowadays automatically include GAP insurance so if you do wreck your car, you're not liable for the difference in cost vs worth.
The dealer will NOT give you a new car without having to pay a dime (for what I know). The insurance will just cover it's losses and you'll need to apply all over again for a new car.
If you put 5K down on a lease and crash it, the insurance company or dealer will not give you back that 5K to get a new car. It's basically gone (fees and taxes and such). Now that car residuals are dropping so fast, you'd be lucky to get anything back. A 10K down on a lease for dropping capital cost reduction would probably cover it's value loss.
Now a smart thing to do is to put multilple MSD's. You'd get that back I think.

You're getting snowed. You are responsible for insuring your vehicle. If your car is totaled or stolen, your ins co will pay the fair market value of the vehicle at the time of the loss. If that is enough to pay off BMWFS, then you will get to keep the rest, but with the way cars depreciate, there wont be much. If it's not enough to pay off BMWFS, then your gap coverage will kick in and pay the difference, but only to BMW, not to you.

After the car is paid off, then you can go make a new deal, but you no longer have that $10,000 in the bank. With no down payment, your new lease will be $600 per month just like all the others.

You got a $50k car, you put down $10k. You drive off the lot and the car is worth $40k right then. Car is totaled, ins co pays fair market value to pay off car. You are out your $10k.
