Devil's Own Methanol Kit

Im going to add methanol to my 335d. I currently have the following setup

JR Stage 2+
Complete Alphabet Soup Delete

My real question is what kit and what size nozzles from Devil's Own. I have read numerous good reviews about their nozzles etc and I pretty sure this is the brand Im going with so looking for a little advice. I have read the DIY's on here as well and seem pretty straight forward.

Im thinking the DVC-100 or Stage 2 3 bar kit due to boost demands as mine hits 34psi under full throttle.

Any help and input is greatly appreciated.

It's only a 3l engine, so it can't use alot of water, contrary to popular belief. There are at least 3 different ways to measure nozzle sizes, not to mention spray patterns. Just start small. Too much W/M triggers my engine malfunc light, and can be invoked by simply setting the start spray PSI too low.

Seems like most people run a combination of nozzles totaling around 1,000ml/min

Are you running it for a power increase/lower IATs or are you running it to help keep the intake side of things clean?

OP, sizing WMI is more than just a nozzle size. You need to measure the pump pressure at 100 duty cycle. There is no reason to spray WMI at anything less than 100% with our diesel.

A 1000cc/ml nozzle will flow considerably more at 200psi that it does at 150psi. So, first thing is identifying pump pressure at 100% duty cycle. There are gauges available or I can loan mine out.

You need to subtract your manifold boost pressure from pump pressure. If your pump makes 150psi, and you size your nozzle for 150psi pump pressure, your nozzle with under perform. 150psi pump will push 115-120psi into the intake tract, again, pump pressure is crucial to nozzle size.

A standard start and stop progressive boost controller is horrible for controlling WMI. Horrible! Especially on our car where the HP turbo will trigger the high setting at 2k RPMs. Lol. You need to trigger by rpm and boost.

I pick up 90-100whp from my WMI set up. Torquebyte controller, fast acting valve and triggering WMI with boost x rpm can make a lot of power.

Thank you everyone for the replies.

So here is where Im at. I like the simplicity of the DO kit. I understand Torqbyte is much better but Im not looking for a race application at this point. However if it is in worth it cost wise to go Torqbyte, Id definitely be interested but at that point I would definitely need help in tuning it. Is this something we could work on privately 335dsleeper?

To others that have asked, Im at this time looking for the cleaning benefits of 50/50 WMI along with the 20-40whp it gives. So input there is appreciated at this time.

hmmmm no im going to have to disagree with that, given time it will start to clean.

I run a 1000cc injector on mine, im the AEM kit with the fancy boost controller.
I do however need to drop down a size, im thinking to 800cc, i seem to get starting issues after i use it, example - i spray down the 1/4 miles and drive back into the Q, turn the car off open the bonnet ect let it cool down, come starting it cranks for about 5-6 seconds before bursting into life.

If i do the same run with no meth, turn the car off it starts up push of the button, not sure whats going on but im hoping using a smaller nozzle stops that.

I pick up about 50bhp/70ftlbs with it on , although iv not been back on the dyno with the XHP stage 3 flash to see if torque is up more.

do you have a solenoid near the nozzle? it sounds like you are dripping into the intake after shutoff. A solenoid will lock the fluid in the line and keep it from dripping. the closer to the nozzle the better.

if this is the case then changing to a smaller nozzle wont fix the problem

Precision-machined billet-aluminum injector with integral check valve

Shouldnt need one really, my injector is in the cold side boost pipe, about half a foot from the throttle body

You need a quick solenoid. Snow performance is nice. Doesnt leak. Aquamist leaks for me. If you want a torqbyte controller for you kit. Let me know.

Mine been doing that for years all you have to do is let it idle before you shut it off. I go to the track frequently and drive like an a hole. And if I shut it off right after a w.o.t. pass mine will not fire on the first hit.
