Arrow **Please Post Your 2009 Lease Deals**

*10/21/08 - Admins, I would suggest making this post a sticky, there is a lot of useful information in this thread regarding the lease of an '09 E9x or even just leasing in general

Hello Everyone,

Seems that the 2009 E9x's are on the horizon with many people having placed orders or confirmed prior ones. Of course, as we all know, there have been price increases in nearly every option available and contradictions on the availability of the new iDrive on all E9x models. All that aside I wanted to get an idea of what to expect for monthly lease figures for the '09s, especially now that official 2009 lease rates are available!

Therefore, for those of you who have negotiated the purchase of a 2009 E9x could you please post the details of your deal, here's a template:

MSRP:
Negotiated Price:
Lease Term:
Annual Mileage:
Down Payment:
Residual:
Money Factor:

Monthly Payment:

If we could keep this post strictly to the criteria above I believe it would be very helpful to those considering the lease of a E9x

I myself will be placing an order in the weeks to come and will post my figures respectively

Thank you everyone for their input.

- Diamond Skyline

*Some useful hints when going to the dealership:

- The dealer's invoice price is usually 93% of the MSRP or you can calculate your own here:

E90: http://www.bmwblog.com/docs/2009-e90-pricing.pdf

E92: http://www.bmwblog.com/docs/2009-e92-pricing.pdf

- It is possible to get close to invoice price even when placing a custom order, however it will require a little more effort

- The dealer can control the money factor by raising it over the rate set by BMW NA but cannot control the residuals (correct me if I am wrong) as they are set in stone by BMW North America, therefore your best tool is working on the actual price of the car, don't get sucked into extending out the lease period or by reducing the annual mileage.. also on that note, from my experiences, 36 month and 42 month lease rates for September/October are better than 48/60 Month rates, so extending out the lease isn't always a good idea either!

- If you calculate your own lease figures using Lease Guide (http://www.leaseguide.com/calc.htm) make sure they are consistent with what the dealer quotes you

- Try to put the lowest amount possible as a down payment, you may not get it all back if something were to happen to your car

Any other tips would be appreciated, happy shopping!

I think most people are waiting for lease rates to come out. I have negotiated cost over ED invoice and the pricing will be applied against whatever the lease/financial rates will be.

Also you will see a substantial delta in payments depending if one does ED or not.

I am doing ED with $1000 over ED invoice and with whatever the official lease rate, residual, MF will be.

Use one of the excel calculators avialable on the forum to calculate your lease payment. That way you will know exactly what you should pay, without suprises. Good Luck!

Same thing here - waiting for the new buy rates/residuals, but I have negotiated a lease at whatever the base buy rate and the std US MSRP residual will be for my ED. Pretty much told one local dealer that wanted to add to the buy rate to take a flying...(see below)

By the way, not to promote another Bimmer blog, but this has always proven to be helpful and has the current month's base rates and residuals: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=309657

Adding to the post above (since there are no figures for 42 month leases) here is a PDF which has the September Lease Rates: http://www.bimmerfile.com/wp-content...w0908lease.pdf

I think with all due respect those 2 CA's may be misinformed. No new IDrive on the 5 series and 6 series but there will be new IDrive on the 1,3 and 7 series.

I read that post as well only making me more confused, I know for sure the Sedans will have the new iDrive but from what I was told the coupes will not have new iDrive until next year.. both dealers told me that..

but then I was BMW USA customizing a coupe and the interior picture showed the new iDrive.. I just don't know what to believe until someone actually takes delivery of their new coupes

Wrong. The dealer can add 1% markup to the MF (0.0004).

Also incorrect. It has been discussed here several times. The insurance company will pay off the lease first on a totalled car. Any overage will come to you. You may not get it all back if the car is a couple of years old, bit you wouldn't either if you were financing.

Exactly, so tell the dealer they're not getting your business if they try to mark up the lease above the BMWFS buy rate. They are already getting paid by BMWFS for your negotiated purchase price for the car - the dealer doesn't deserve two bites of the apple.

As to the point about down payments, a lease down payment is just an acceleration of payments. There's no good reason to prepay a lease unless you just like to pretend you're getting a better deal with the lower remaining payments.

Yes, I was reading a few other threads and was informed that the dealer is able to markup the money factor.. thanks for pointing that out, don't want to misinform people..

so to confirm, the money factors posted here on the forum for september/october will be the lowest possible?

Ok, I was unaware of this, I was always told to put the lowest amount down possible on a lease, and work the other factors of the deal to reduce the monthly payments

You're spot on. Unless you plan to total the car and get some money back, give the leasing co. as little as possible upfront.

Looking at $300 above invoice with a MF of .000210. The manager was really pissed about giving me a deal like this...but he did it...fully loaded 2009 328xdrive.

Well, maybe no one else leased their '09s, but I did, so I guess I'll be the first to go.

MSRP: $50,425.00
Negotiated Price: $48,095.00
Lease Term: 36 Months
Annual Mileage: 12k
Down Payment: $2,000.00
Residual: 62%
Money Factor:
.00225

Monthly Payment: $636.51

I may not have gotten the best deal in the world, but it was the best price I got from all the dealers around me, and I'm fine with it . Now we play the waiting game.....

you got a great residual.. correct me if i'm wrong but the pdf files roaming around claim a lower residual for 36 month lease.. 62% is confirmed?

i will be going in saturday morning (hopefully) to place an order.. i will aim for the same residual

thanks for the post

The pdf file is for 15k miles. You add 2% for 12k and 3% for 10k, at least that's what someone mentioned in another thread and that's also what the dealer told me. So for a 36 month lease you should be looking for 62%. I also showed him the money factor from the pdf (I brought the pdf with me) and he agreed with what I had since he had the same exact file in front of him as well.

Good luck with everything this weekend.
