How loud is your cooling fan???

Hey guys, I always thought my fan in my engine compartment was a bit loud, but it never bothered me or was very noticeable.

Over the last week though, it has become extremely loud. Usually it would be loud for a few minutes when i start up the car then settle down, but now its constantly LOUD.

Today i parked over at Stonecold to get some ice cream and left the car running outside. When I came out, even from 30 feet away, it sounded as if there was a huge pickup truck or 18 wheeler out there mking that noise.

Usually when my car is on and i stand outside the car, i don't even know its on...thats how it should be. But lately its just as if the fan gets stuck on hyperdrive and stays there. It is always hot here in Vegas and temperature hasn't changed recently.

I got the 2007 335i coupe. I am on Map 7, full bolt ons, pump gas.

Anyone out there get similar issues.

And yes I have researched the topic. There are many other topics out there about loud fans. I found them for 328i's and M5s and M3s but not for 335i.

How would I go about troubleshooting this problem? don't wana take car to dealer with tune and full bolt ons.

Ive been having the same issue. Turned out to be a bad coolant temp sensor. I also remember some vender saying something about a faulty ECU causing a fan issue.

My fan has been very loud a few times lately, when it's been loud car seams to run with less boost as well. I checked for codes and found one relating to coolant sensor plausibility, so need tO get it fixed at some stage

Take the engine cover that covers the head off. Then on the front right ( near the oil filter ) you will see the sensor. Unscrew, unplug, rescrew plug in. You are done.

I remember when I had my car, the fan was always loud when its warm and especially when the AC is on at the same time, so that's why you're hearing it now i think. I checked the car for codes and even took it to the dealer and they said its normal. They even showed me how their barely driven test drive car even had it.

I have a winding sound when AC on only. I thought it was the fan and maybe it is but only when the AC is on. If I hold 4K rpms in 2nd or 3rd or 4th gear, I hear this yeow, yeow, yeow, yeow...Like my school bus sounded so many years ago...

Dealer said they didn't hear anything and that I need to schedual to take a tech on a ride.

Mine is starting to do it as well....going in for warranty work next week and will have it checked.

335caliber, were you able to check for codes with your BT cable? Anything?
