I'm guessing its because I put a lot of care into putting the car together and its not a janky/rusty/poorly assembled shitbox as so many of those BaT cars are.

It's a modified example of a non sports-car platform, plain and simple. Not a great history of those types of auctions for BaT, plus they keep a cadence of certain platforms (usually...) and may have few wagons in wait.

Yank off the tune and intake bits and it becomes a lot friendlier to an audience less in the know

Audience less in the know is not paying $21k for an N52 wagon. Now if it were an N54 car ...

But a modified E30 touring with a shady AF title history is ok? It doesnt seem to add up, but hey, its their site and they seem to be doing just fine.

If the answer is "we just moved 2 E91's and have 3 more in the queue, check in with us in a few months" then thats pretty reasonable IMO.

That was the audience in "all" the know aka BaT. I meant your typical autotrader buyers

The market seems to be about the same that is has been for the past year or two. When sellers know what they have, from my obeservation the breakdown has looked something like this:
  • 40k: EAG M Sport 6MT RWD unicorn with low mileage
  • Mid to high 20's: LCI M Sport 6MT RWD/xDrive with lower mileage (50-75k)
  • High teens to low 20's: LCI 6MT RWD/xDrive with lower mileage (50-75k)
  • Mid to high teens: 6MT RWD/xDrive with higher mileage (70-100k)
  • Low to mid teens: 6MT RWD/xDrive pre-LCI

Sport package cars and premium color combos (rare doesn't equal desirable) seem to fall in the higher ranges of the bands.

Mods don't really seem to make much difference in the sale price.

There are of course deals to be found and exceptions, I recall an accident repaired but still clean titled 6MT Le Mans listed for $21k or something that sold in 24 hours.

I think there are more buyers out there than sellers, but most buyers seem ready to wait to find a good deal. I personally paid on the higher end but found a car with exactly the options I wanted along with a full maintenance history.

It takes the right buyer to come along though. Banks and credit unions won't finance the higher end of the spectrum, for example 22k on the BaT car. It has to be a cash or 50% cash buyer because on paper these cars aren't anything special to insurance companies, which limits your pool of buyers.

Generally I think the lower mileage cars are holding value but some of the higher mile cars are slipping. There have been a few listings of nice cars that just aren't selling quickly and have 80-100k on them.

I'm still holding out for a second wagon, a pre-LCI 6MT in red. I've expanded my search to include 6MT E83's though since I want something I can treat more as a beater and not feel guilty if it catches a ding or scratch.

They wouldnt say. I suspect because they've had a number of E91's come through lately and maybe they have more in the queue.

Just how much does the manual effect value? I know its a big deal, but 5k? 10k? I just got a pretty good deal on a loaded Msport xdrive auto with 38k miles and will decide whether to keep it long term or sell it.

Also its a beige interior with no xenons or heated seats.

If it was a 15 year old Toyota SUV, they would have jumped all over it (yes I am a little salty they turned down my e46 wagon late last year).

Too high of a reserve is usually the most common other reason. My e82 was rejected for that reason a couple years back.

+1, I am really curious what is a reasonable price difference? Or what should we expect to pay private party?

Keep it and swap the transmission. That's what I would do if I was in your shoes, depending on the interior color. If it's tan or grey interior sell it now while it's easier due to the low mileage.

Given the price deltas you could buy a nice auto car and pay a shop to swap the gearbox for same money.

My car was rejected by BaT, so its off to Autotrader - https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ngId=518868622
Why would they reject that? It's beautiful, 6mt and low miles.

Who knows. I've gotten about 10 emails/calls in 2 days from the autotrader ad, so I hope it moves out soon.
