@XDR,
Hey man, you must be a bmw tech/tuner no?
Do you know if its possible to just grab a 330i DME off ebay and just swap it into an 325i w/ a 3 stage manifold?

I heard you have to "align the CAS to the DME". what tool does that for you? (dealer?)

after you do this coding, can you swap the DME's out anytime? (w/o aligning)

Welcome to the forum, I'm "new" here too!

To answer the OP question; kind of.

My 323i has the 3-stage intake (like a mini 330i) and it is a 2.5L. I win.

Wow... Should we open a separate thread that starts with this post so we din't loose this discussion? This sounds to me like very knowledgeable information.

The question: why 330 software needs to be flashed? The assumption at the board is software is identical, but behaves differently based on VIN #

Once the intake manifold is upgraded, RESET ADAPTATIONS!

My issue has been resolved! Using the Bavarian Technic tool, I was able to reset all the adaptations on my car, specifically the intake manifold adaptation. Once this was reset, the surges between 2,000 and 3000 under WOT are all GONE!
A battery reset simply did not do the Trick, but the Bavarian Technic tool is money well spent!

So... In theory - that would have worked with the OE tune also?

Jeremy usually resets the learned values. At least he did with mine.

DCAN does the same thing, on an infinite amount of cars and 1/3rd of the price, oh well, for future reference.

the software/program is included in the cable. I recently learned that its necessary to clear all error codes caused by loading a tune in the DME.

I believe the OE Tune would have been corrected

I had issues with the OE Tune that probably would have been corrected with the Bavarian Technic Intake Manifold Adaptation RESET. However I did not test this theory. The AA Tune had similiar issues, but they were 100% resolved upon resetting this adaptation. Jeremy told me I may have had adaptation issues, but that I could reset them by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes. Not true in my case.

So for the future, an intake manifold swap should be followed by a good tune, and having someone reset your adaptations with software.

P.S. the AA Tune is still smoother and I am sticking with it. No knocking at idle as well...

Yes, the Z4 has more room behind the motor... much easier to access.

Hey, anyone knows how to reset the intake manifild wit INPA?

I just installed the 3stage, disconnected the battery, did the "key + gas pedal" adaptation reset but I got 2 engine warnings. I got one the first time I WOT at 4000 RPM and the second at 5500 RPM. Both time I felt the engine unstable, I stop the car and restart. I drove a few run after for more than 1 hr on the highway and all looks fine, no error or warning.

If the warning come back, I will try to reset my adaption..

Btw, i usualy get 29 mpg and on the same trip I got 32 mpg after the intake install...with no tune. This would mean that the 3 stage is more economic on the highway.

I have AA tune for 2 months and I have just upgraded my 325i Auto with 3 stage intake manifold. I feel hiccup when accelerating at around 3500 - 4200 RPM. Feels like the car hesitance for 3 hiccup before accelerating strongly again. Any one experience this issue?

Yes, but mine happens below 3000rpm. I'm wondering if there's a bad sensor somewhere or bad vanos solenoid or valvetronic actuator.
