330i M-Sport - Want to go with bigger tires
Hey guys, I own a 2008 330i M-Sport (euro version) and live in Peru, South America. Roads are crap! I'm tired of the holes, huge speed bumps and road imperfections everytime I drive.
The stock tire setup is as follows: 255/35/18 - Rear 225/40/18 - Front I want a bigger profile tire for a more comfortable ride like for example: 255/40/18 - Rear 225/45/18 - Front But Im not sure if any of the following issues would be a problem: - Rubbing since the M-Sport suspension rides low. - Performance - Fitment If anyone has some advice or has done this setup in the past, any recommendation and info. is welcome.

I'm wondering the same thing. Not so much about the fitment, but about how a taller than stock tire might have an effect on things like traction control, or abs, or performance. I had to raise my car up because my new bumper/lip hang so low. I want to fill up a bit of the fender gap with tire.
Would going from a 225/45 to a 245/45 be a bad idea? It's a 2% size increase over stock. |

225/45R18 (on a wheel with correct 36mm offset) is what I'm running on my 335d. I'm running a square setup with them on all four corners (winter set); plenty of room. I think the 255/40 in the rear should be ok, too.
Personally, I would go to an F3x set of 17" wheels and tires if I wanted more comfort. The F3x wheels are the same offset and bolt patterns, but are all .05 bigger in profile (for instance, wife's car has 225/50R17 rather than the E9x 225/45R17 size.) |

You shouldn't have any problems running those sizes. Its the difference in diameter between front and rear the you really need to be worried about. The difference in this case is not going to be an issue. Its very small. Typically, for RWD cars you want the difference t be no more than 3%. For AWD cars, the difference can only be up to 1% so as not to cause issues with the transfer case and what not.
Hope this helps!
