I agree. You guys realize that by pirating the Bentley manual, you deny revenue to the company that produces the manuals in the first place. If Bentley stops publishing manuals we as a community lose the single best resource out there for working on our own cars.

Don't be a cheapskate. Buy your own manual!

It is different if you actually have already purchased the physical manual (like me). Then, having it in electronic format is just a bonus, plus it is searchable then.

Yeah, I should have included the link to my download page, instead of the direct link, which has that disclaimer; I've redirected the direct link to the download page.

I've had something similar up for a 6g Civic manual, published by Helms, for nearly a decade without a word from Helms...but of course both downloads would be taken down if asked by the publisher.

Not making excuses, but this was already posted elsewhere online. There's even a torrent for it.

Can't tell if you're joking...
As the proud owner of a hard copy of the book, I can tell you it is garbage. Don't waste your money on it. "Pirate" it (don't worry it isn't actually piracy) and you'll see why it's not at all worth buying. BMW's software, the forum DIYs, and common sense are much better.

I'd not go as far as to say garbage. I think the Bentley does offer good information regarding the operational theory of how most of the systems work, which helps with diagnosis. But the Bentley is like most repair manuals, which do a poor job at explaining how to remove some parts; it does what most repair manuals do, which is just say "remove part X".

I agree that E90 Post DIY section is a great resource (I've posted a few DIYs on it - really good ones of course ), but the TIS is now available for free. I've had my car since 2006 and accumulated miles at 3X the rate of a normal owner, so within a year and a half I was delving into repairs there was no repair procedures for other than the TIS. I bought a 24-hour TIS subscription and downloaded as much of the procedures I could that I thought were relevant. I have the Bentley manual and I have to say I rarely use it as a resource, but it's worth having as a backup.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

The Bentley manual plus some Youtube videos generally gets the job done for me.

Super Helpful, thanks!

Thanks! (And thanks to GeorgeLB for hosting)! My paper copy is getting pretty beat up, but I have an old iPad that works great with the PDF.

Both links are now dead. The Bentley manual doesn't have details on cam bearing ledge replacement. Does anyone have a new link?

No new link for free TIS. BMW's real TIS is available for a subscription price.

Or download INPA.
