Clear Coat Peeling: DIY Repair?

Can anyone tell me whether I might be able to repair this bit of peeling clear coat? My objective is to stop further peeling, not necessarily to make it look perfect again. As you can probably tell from these photos, the paint is already a disaster (this is my wife's Eurovan), but I do want to stop this peeling from spreading over the whole hood.

I have seen a company selling a base coat color pen and clear coat pen (along with a rubbing compound) as a kit to repair clear coat issues. Anyone have any experience with these types of products? Here's a link:

Unfortunately, I don't believe much can be done for clear coat failure. That said, dr colorchip MAY be able to help, I'm not entirely sure though. I'm sure the professionals will chime in....

I'd polish the crap out of it, or wet sand it a little, and then spray a couple of coats of clear on (spray can, $7.99). Once dry, wet sand a little more and then call it a day.

I'd recommend trying Opti-Coat if anything. It's the most durable product I know of and is truly much like adding another thin layer of clear-coat to your car. Because of it's permanent nature, I'd recommend thoroughly washing, claying, and lightly polishing the area first.

+1 on opti-coat, there are some great videos on youtube of people repairing clear coat holes like that one with opti-coat.

it wont look like new but it'll definitely stop it from spreading, prep is key for opti-coat to really work though.
