Trims falling off!

Spent today outside working on the wifes car and breaking my old car to sell various parts, and it seems the E90's got jealous of it not getting any attention...

At first i thought someone had vandalised it, but on closer inspection there appears to be glue residue on the end thats popped up, so presumably someones bodged it before, and the warmth today has caused it to pop free.

How exactly are these trims supposed to be fixed onto the car?

So i poked at it a little trying to make it go back on and only succeeded in making it worse, its now come completely off.

I suspect the painted metal part isnt supposed to detatch from the rubber part underneath, and the whole thing is supposed to come off as one piece.

Will have to see the dealer about ordering a new one.
