Swapping Steering Column with Lock with Steering Column without Lock. Coding options?
Context: My steering column is very sloppy. Has the lock and it is 2006 E90 325i. I want to replace it with a steering column from 2010 that does not have the ELV lock.
Question: 1. Can I code the lock out using Bimmergeeks Protool? If so, is there a howto guide? 2. I heard there is an ELV bypass. Is it applicable in my case? Any reference to other threads about this?

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t believe that’s possible. Your 2006 would’ve come with cas2. Only on cas3 you can flash out ELV, cas2 you cannot. You’d need to install and program a used cas3 module, which cannot be done with standard tools and kdcan. Need more advanced software.

Thank you. When I removed the column, the lock module was fine, but the column itself was loose. I simply swapped the module to the new column without the lock and plugged it back. The car still sees the module, but there is no actual lock. Problem solved
