Those who DIY tranny or diff oil change - What pump you used?

Which type of pump did you use? I'm thinking of either buying a drill pump or the ones that you push on to pump like a soap dispenser.

I just used one that you push on like a soap dispenser, but It also took forever. If you can get a better type.

I used this:

The main reason being that it was cheap and simple and it worked. Did it take a while, yep. But I figured I would only have to do it once every 3 years or so, so the world wasn't going to end.

As those mentioned above, though - if you don't mind spending the extra dollars, there are obviously better choices.

Yeah no I don't want to spend a lot just do these changes every fiew times.

Wanted a type like this but I read alot of bad reviews on it, I don't want to be stuck with no pump when doing the job and hence no car to go to the store right.

It went bad how many time? I read a lot of it going bad in that type so don't want it to break on me while doing the job.

FWIW, I changed the diff and tranny fluid on my old 2004 Miata several times with my old walmart pump before getting the BMW. It still works, all these years later. Cost me like $6.

Ditto, I have had the same one(similar to the one in the walmart link) for atleast 10 years. Have used it A LOT of times and no issues still.

I'm ancient... so I have a lot of tools. I've tried most of the products listed. I have to say the best device I've used to pump oil into a transmission or diff is an automotive fluid syringe. It pulls the oil out of the oil bottle and then pushes it into the trans/diff. I have one I bought probably 38 years ago (so its made in the USA out of metal), but it works the best. A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

This, the OTC one. That's what I use. All the other types are crap.

All that said, I did recently get a Motive fluid pump. I've used it once. It's a bit too big for a few quarts of fluid IMO.
