Inexpensive transmission mounts part # 23711175939

At the last track event I noticed significant trasnmission movements where I was a hair away from ramming into 1st instead of 3rd during downshifting from 4th.
I wasn't interested in spending money on e46 m3 mounts or artermarket so I dug into the BMW parts bin.
I prevously owned two e21's and two e36 and I knew that the e21 mounts are superior but the studs a little wider and not a direct swap.
Since I have a todller running around I decided to look for a direct replacment that will not require removing the transmision lower bracket to drill out the mounting holes 2mm wider.
So I start looking at various transmisions mounts made for BMW's from the 80's and found one that quickly caught my eye.
Was bulky and square like so will not bent like the over priced m3 mounts.
It costs about $3 and the part # is 23711175939
The install went smooth. I didn't even remove the plastic liner under the car.
We have few nice DIY on transmission mount so I won't write and new one.
I'll just say that the mounts didn't introduce any vibrations at all but they improved how the shifter feels like going through the gears.
I've the short BMWPerformance lever so that make a small difference too.
Here are few photos of the mounts.

If you look at the stock mounts as well as the e46 m3 you will understand that they flex a lot due to their hourglass shape. The aftermarkets are full cylinder shape thus these super affordable mounts being a great alternative.

You're on a roll with these lately - Appreciate your post re: lower shock mounts as well. Did you get the transmission mounts from rock auto made by URO parts?

Yes, I got them from Rockauto. We received a lot of parts from them last Thursday. Is listed for less on ECS site by shipping cost more.

Hello- I have a rwd e91 328i. Is it safe to assume that your 335 is also rwd and that this part # should be a good fit for my rwd 328i as well? If so I’m going to pick these up from europarts locally in stock at 9am. Doing some track Day prep today. Bmw performance springs Dinan fixed camber plates alignment etc... thank you

The springs and the camber plates will transform your car. I have BMW performance springs (Dinan are believed to be identical) and GC camber plates but going to install fix camber plates soon since can not tolerate the clunking any longer.

I checked them recently and visually they look as the day I installed them. The unwanted transmission movement that was there with the worn out original mounts has not returned. So far they are totally worth it. There are better mounts out there but this are the cheapest and I believe that they do better compare to original hour glass shaped mounts.

After reviewing RealOEM, the answer to that question is rather apparent.

I rebuilt the engine last June. It was easier to pull it out with the transmission. Mount were OK. No sign of wear. Still feels OK. Isn't sloppy as it was.

Anyone consider Rogue Engineering Trans mounts? I've had them for almost 2 years. Nothing but positive things to say.

I noticed that some brands seem to be solid metal. Do you think those will be better?

Bapmic (solid metal?):

No experience but probably not, I assume just the base metal plate is larger, and middle rubber section would be the same.

Thumbs up

I bought the FebiBilstein version of the 23711175939 (E30) here in Europe for my 325i E90 2006 and they fit fine and shifting is much smoother now than before. Can't compare to new genuine bushings as I didn't try those but the old ones had been on for 65 000 miles. Anyways thanks feuer for the tip

View post on imgur.com

I have some video of me twisting the old bushings while fitted to the gearbox without the supporting beam but I didn't film the same with the E30 style bushings so no real point to uploading that.
