iDrive controller update/swap

it was just an individual seller, not a store or anything

Hey OP

Did your lci idrive knob come with that rubber outline?

Here's a pic of my new lci idrive knob with my new lci center console trim and you see that gap along where the trim meets the lci idrive ??? I'm guessing the vendor forgot to give me that rubber idrive outline thing or do I have to order it ??

You are missing the controller trim bracket P/N 51169170917.

^ thanks !!! I just ordered it!! Geez I ordered the new lci center console trim and the new lci I drive knob and the dealership can't even include this $7 dollar trim bracket??? Sadddddd

OP, I have a 2007 335I, and recently my i drive controller has been malfunctioning. Mine looks like the one in the picture above, on the right, but it has a menu button, and a second one with a sketched shouting face. I bought one used and I want to do a swap this weekend. How easy is it to do, and do you have any tips, for installation? Also, how long did it take you and how difficult was it? thanks. If you can post install instructions, I'd be truly grateful.

^I think this retrofit only works for 07 and 08, not sure about 09's, not 100% though..

i have an 08 and did the swap and it works flawlessly and looks awesome!!
