52,400 miles on my California 335d. Had all injectors replaced- Intake manifold and valves all had extreme carbon build up and had to be dismantled and worked on. Couple months later had another injector turn up as "bad" They said it was bad off the shelf. Dont believe it. Less than a month later all the glow plugs were replaced. Now its back in the shop and they're telling me it is the computer unit. Special ordering it and has to be custom made for my car? I am asking for a repurchase but this car is no longer available... 335d is gone and I dont want a 328d and cannot afford a 535d... Any input from the forum? It was done as a good will gesture since it was barely out of warranty. I just fear that I cannot trust this vehicle and that is the worst feeling for a bmw owner. I rented a car just to go to vegas because I dont feel safe driving it. The thing is that with everything new and worked on, this car may be just as good as new or a complete lemon...

Did they just put the engine of the 335d into the 535d, the specs seem nearly identical but I havent gotten that detailed in the comparison. I dont even want to get my hopes up on a car I probably cant afford. Oh, and regardless of price, I have no idea how to convince my wife to stick with BMW much less another Diesel.

It is horrible that we get this type of treatment when we were one of the first to take the chance with diesel here in the states.

No. We have the M57. The new I6 diesel is called the N57.

The 535d in the US is sold as the 530d in Europe.

You're good to go with the DDE fix.

If you get a new engine and dde like me, keep it forever. If you dont have gold extended/CPO warranty 100,000 miles its a big risk.

I don't have a new engine. New DDE, new injectors, new glow plugs, carbon buildup in the valves and intake manifold was removed. At a little over 55,000 miles in four years.

how much is the post warranty extended warranty? starting to look more like something that deserves a consideration.

they're swapping out an injector now @ 42k.

That depend of the warranty type. I decided to get the Powertrain Plus warranty because all my problems (and I had many) have been related to the powertrain. This warranty cover the injector and emission related components.

The rest of the car is the same as any E90 gasoline powered car. I can get the non-powetrain items fixed at any independent BMW specialist for half price of dealer.

What you say sounds reasonable. Do you mind sharing the cost?
As a side note, just got back from the dealer - they replaced one of the injectors under the warranty. Had i not had one, they said the parts would be $570 and labor - $150/hr. I didn't check how many hours it'd take them as it already gave me a ball park cost.

I got it from Pacific BMW (Daniel Dutton). Google to get his email address and mention this forum. The warranty is less than the cost of 4 injectors and it is significantly less than what I would have paid at my dealer here in Atlanta.

I had the BMW service rep check if my car ever had the DDE replaced and he said no. I wonder if the DDE is causing some of the issues and making the SES light come on.

I'm having my injectors replaced after rough idling at only 30,000 miles....should I be concerned because it seems most of you have had them replaced much later on...thanks

Fongboy, how is the JBD working out for you? Do you see a big difference in performance in horsepower and torque? I was thinking about getting one, but I am waiting until my warranty runs out.

CT any flash or piggyback will give great numbers in my case I use RENNtech we dynoed 230 whp STOCK, once we retroffited the flash we clocked 300whp, JB is same but way cheaper, unfortunately mines is expensive BUT carries a 24 mo warranty on the programming
