There is a shop near my office (Autotechnic in New Milford, CT) where I am getting M3 control arms installed and alignment and they have the BG Induction Service listed on their website. It doesnt specify for diesel, but I am going to inquire into the service with them and see if they have done in on ny 335d's or X5d's. I will be there in a few weeks and will report back with any details I can get.

Chris
I have a booked appointment on March 14 to get this done. Will report back of results when complete.

An sib will be coming out in the following months to clean carbon from the head. They will be using the tool that is used to clean n54 heads but with different adapters. I believe they will be sending intake manifolds to machine shops for cleaning.

Can you have the BG guy supply the names of the products they will use to do the induction cleaning and the oil flush? I have been using their fuel treatment DFC Plus product on both my 09 335 D and 2011 Touareg TDI with excellent results in performance. Fuel mileage has been great even through the winter months.

Service manager recommended I use BG 244.

I am one of many that has been driving a loaner for the past 2 1/2 months waiting on an intake. We just told by my SA that BMW is shipping them chemicals and a machine to chemically clean the engine...they are replacing some parts and cleaning others and he was not sure of the exact details yet. I asked if all BMW dealerships were getting this and he indicated that this was the case that he knew of. He said that there was a service bulletin on it and a video that the tech watched in the last week or so about it. Anyone find out anything else or have access to the info to confirm this? Thanks, Scott

this SIB is good news as far as I can tell. If they are going to be able to clean it with a walnut blasting tool and chemicals like the N54 and similar it should bring the cost WAY down.

fuel additive

The BG 244 is a fuel system flush product. I want to the fuel system and oil change at the same time. It was mentioned there is a oil flush product for diesels I have yet to identify.

I think you're looking for "engine purge". To be clear, 244 is different then their Inject-A-Flush which the member above referenced. I use 244 at around every oil change, but the injectaflush is more of a 39-49kmi interval service.

All of the dealers are aware of the new procedure. The intake manifolds will be cleaned via a ultrasonic cleaner at a machine shop. The procedure for cleaning the head is similar to the N54. The intake ports are much different on a diesel and it's going to be a lengthy process to get them clean. The tools are currently being distributed to the dealerships and the sib should be available soon.

Hooper I keep seeing conflicting messages...do we know for certain that walnut blasting is viable for cleaning the 335d engine?

So I drove to Rochdale Auto today in Regina appointment. I met Wade and Trenton who is the local BG rep.

Service was excellent for being a Guinea pig.

Plan was to get the induction clean on the intake and also for the fuel injection system.

Everything was going to plan until the car was opened up only to see the amount of buildup the car has with only few miles. Seems winter, short trips, and low grade fuel have really done a number on the buildup. I only started using additive at 22000km which has improved the drivability, but those first miles included two winters and were all city short miles.

The buildup was so severe that induction cleaning would have risked filling the motor and DPF with far too much crap, so it was decided to get the throttle and EGR cleaned.

The idling and throttle response is very much improved, but now in order to be able to perform an induction clean I will have to replace the intake manifold since BMW seems to call this a maintenance item. I did take photos of the buildup, but I'm not very tech savvy when it comes to posting photos. If someone could show them in this thread it would be much appreciated.
