I'm building a track day focused manual N54 e92 and a planned upgrade for some time were the brakes. So when a full, barely used, kit of M2 brakes came my way, I decided to try and fit them on. However, such kit or the F30 M Performance kit was mostly retrofitted to e9x M3s, and the info on non-M fitting is almost non-existent.

Some general info first: Front calipers are the same from a F30 and M2/M4, but with 370mm discs for the F30 and 380mm for M2. The rear calipers differ between F30 and M2, and the discs are 340mm vs 370mm. I am mentioning this as there is more info on the F30 kit fitting in M and non-M e9x cars.

I have two questions/issues

Has anyone ran with the adapter kit available online (pics below) where the caliper bolts are 10mm instead of 12mm.

And is there an adapter kit for the rear ones or for someone to share which would be the best way to mount it with a custom made adapter.

These seem to be the exact same setup as the F80/82 brakes, which people have put on their E90/92's. Do a search and there is 2 members that make the bushings/adapters to bolt them up

I can't use the PM system yet I'll try to poke the couple of guys when I can, but Turbid (who as I understand has done the rear caliper adapters for M2/F80) hasn't been active for some time now.

Still the main question remains, how safe the bushing setup would be in track day use when they use smaller bolts (10mm vs 12mm)?

Why not going Brembo from E82 in the back? It is direct fit.

I've been looking at these, but the rear ones work only with M3 hubs or a E8x hubs. I am not sure how troublesome is to retrofit the M3 hubs

For the front ones I am a bit confused as I am sure they were for M3 again. But they appear not to be. Still if I am not mistaken they also use smaller bolts, so just the adapter is slightly different from what I currently have.

all the info is out there, you got the wrong kit for the rear. with the right calipers front 370mm is bolt up, 380 with adapters. the rear is different with many variables, since u have a 335i u need e60 rotors with eccentric adapters, 370 needs adapter and hubs iirc. you need to trim the dust shield and try not to bend the ebrake support plate (otherwise remember to rebend and check clearance). yes its safe and imo is a must, the rear brakes were 1st issue i ran into driving the car hard

The adapter for the front are for 335i hubs. The bolts are the appropriate size to make everything work. E90 M3 front hubs are the same as F80 so no adapter is needed for E90 M3. Swapping the hubs in the rear isn't a big deal. You just take the arms off and take the axle nut off and swap it. Everything lines up. You can get used E90/E92 M3 hubs from a part out car.

E90 M3 front hubs use different coilovers. So not technically a direct fit. I'd just swap the rear (you still need the spacer kit even with the hub swap) and use the adapters for the front.

No they are not. Space out on mounting tabs is different on e9x m3. All non m3 e9x are same with all F3x M and non M. I you want f3x M brakes on any e9x without adapters you need f3x M parts not e9x M.

Don’t waste time and resources on fitting 370mm rotors on the rear. Not needed. Not even for track. I have been tracking mine with shaved calipers and drilled out mounting tabs. For 10 years already. 3 sets of rear rotors. At least 6 sets of pads.

Sadly I'll be dropping the M2 concept I have successfully fitted the fronts and was about to source 135 hubs, however, two of my 18" wheel sets did not fit the new brakes. One of which are my track OZ set which with a 20mm spacer do fit but very slightly rub on the caliper, because they were still slightly warped from the last track day I do have a set of 219Ms which should fit a bit better, but still too close for comfort. I think the adapters push the caliper slightly further than how it sits on a M2. So I'll be looking into AP Racing set probably with the smaller 356mm disks. Don't want to move up to 19" wheels

Pretty sure the 380 kit from AP will clear an Apex 18" wheel. Not 100% sure though. You can get a fit templet from Essex brakes for the 380 and 356 kit that shows the rotor and caliper and put it inside of your wheel to see if it will clear before you buy it.

So, I did get back to the idea of M2/3/4 brakes for the E92. I missed it in my research before that the front calipers fit plug and play without using bushings if paired with 370mm F30 M Performance rotors. This also helps with clearance for 18" rims, although my style 193 18" still did not fit at all but 18" JR SL01 did perfectly.

So the deal is to get the M2, M3 or M4 calipers (painted ones, not silver) that have a 370/380 stamp on them. For rotors I got the OEM M Performance ones - 34106797603. And it still works with M2/3/4 pads.

For the rears I opted for E9x M3 knuckles and the spacer plate from Seems Legit Garage. And that way it goes with the 370mm rear rotors from M2/3/4. This I haven't fitted yet.
