Well this hurts... my headlights came with the ballast and all hardware to get these to run with OEM parts...

So its either install HID kit with H7 bulb to avoid the error and passenger headlight from going out... or buy parachutes fix? One is $150 and the loss of bulbs, ballasts whatever other pieces or $180 for a harness fix?

What does everyone suggest?

Get the parachutes kit, the reason I installed mtec, because I had the mtec in my possession. Its such a waste if I don't use it.

Suppose you do the conversion by rewiring internally or modifying the plugs.
Will something like this on ebay: Computer Warning Canceller get rid of the warning + possible light outtage?
Just curious if anyone had any experience with these cancellers.

I don't think will work on OEM Xenon.

You can buy MTEC on ebay like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MTEC-...spagenameZWDVW

or get parachute for less money you still using oem bulb and ballast.

Don't think this will work either, basically you need to draw another source of power to give the proper wattage to support the Xenons. I would like to get Parachutes fix but a little strapped at the moment.

I like to get Parachutes too but from his DIY instructions, I don't think I understand how to install it.
its more complicated than I thought......

its not that bad, for parachutes but you will have 2 lights floating around in the engine compartment, say, if i dont put some plastic where there was the OEM ballast was, itll leak and ill get screwed yes?

It's not as hard as it looks, it's plug and play, basically it has 4 ends you have to connect, that's it. It does not affect factory wiring whatsoever.
1. to battery lead, 2. in place of low beam wire, 3. to oem low beam wire, 4. ground
connect fogs and voila! you are done

I've had them in there for a year with no problem, basically i taped them to the harness, so they don't wiggle or anything. the reason i chose these low wattage bulbs is only so that if someone happens to hit the fog light switch the bulbs go on and not a resistor that could get really hot. but if it makes you happier connect a resistor instead, I just think it could be hazardous. these 2 bulbs don't go in the housing, they connect to your original fog light connector so that there is no error there.

new problem for me haha. i did the retrofit on a set of euro spec xenons in the summer, they have been fint till it started gettin cold out. not i gotta flick the switch on and off till i get both lights on. once they are on they stay on but usualy the driverside or both dont go on till after a few flicks of the headlight knob. weird huh? im thinking shitty cheep D1C bulbs that dont fire up correctly?

hmm it shouldnt be the bulbs....plus they are D1S not D1C heheh hmm try this.....try turning the car ON not the ENGINE, just the electronics. then put the xenons on either Auto in a dark garage or ON...see what happens...if they work perfectly....hmm but if they dont it prolly has to do with either the bulb ballast or the grounds.

well to make a pretty long story short....some peoples OEM halogen to xenon swap have problems such as difficulty starting up the lights and that it requires many times for the light to work. also people have experienced lights going out when the engine is on after some flickering. THere is an error however that varys too...most people get the error then you turn on the car but others are getting it while driving, and it appears sporadically and in i drive cars it will say left or right headlight malfunction all the time when teh engine is on. any ideas?

did you check that the ground from both headlights is not the same one? I hope you didn't wire both grounds to the same point in you chassis. that seems to be a common problem.
other than that I know 10+ people that did the conversion and no one had a problem.
when you do figure it out remember I sell the harness to get rid of the error
