I don't have it on my bmw, but I have had it on past cars. It's definitely a very cool feature to have, and I was a bit disappointed that BMW didn't offer it on the 3series at first, but you can live without it.

Very useful, but it's up to you how much you need it.

i just ordered from modmynavi, kris was awesome by answering all of my nagging questions before hand. I prefer his rear camera over alexshop due to the fact that the led in the alexshop camera has different optics compared to the stock led light so it will look uneven at night. With the mod my navi camera it is integrated into the trunk latch switch which is even more oem looking and doesnt require you to mess with the oem plate lights.

Will they fit perfectly so it doesn't look ghetto? And will we be able to view it from the iDrive?

Jon,

Please post your results. I like the Modmynav product and am interested in getting one as well. I need to find out if it will work on a convertible as the trunk folds both ways. Thanks.

I absolutely LOVE mine

I didn't do the front as I found no use for it..

but the rear is AMAZING

Especially when trying to back out of the lot and a big SUV is parked next to you.. you can't see when you look over, but you can see if a car is coming thru the rear cam

Also, at night, it's not as easy to 'see' but when you see a bright light.. you know it's a car, so it means stop :P

you can turn it on while driving, but that just gives me a headache..

it's definitely worth it

I have them on my Benz, but to be honest, they don't help very much. They are great for my wife though who can't seem to judge distances.

have you seen how big a 3 series is?

it doesn't even need park distance for the most part...you should be able to do without. but if you must!

Why would you need front and rear camera for? You just need to learn some mad parallel parking skills.

Kris from modmynav just installed the rear camera for me today (I was going to get the front camera too but it's OOS for now, so I'll add it later). It's looking good so far and fun to play with =]. What I plan to do with the front camera is to hook up a dvr to it and record just in case of dumb drivers having "accidents" with me -- yeah I got paranoid with reading insurance frauds with people backing up into you, then blaming you and suing you. This way I'll have proof! Sorry for my rant haha but Kris' unit is great.

The rear camera on my mini-van is worth it. I don't see then need on a 3 series. Front cameras are really usefull with night vision capability on tactical vehicles during convoys in blackout drive.

Honestly if it makes you feel safer and improves your vision I am all for it.

I'm just not sure about the strange colors of the lines on the screen when backing up. Would have preferred them to be a little less rainbowy
