You basically connect all your devices to the amp and then the amp to your TV. The Sky HD box comes with HDMI and that will give you a better picture than SCART as you wont get HD through SCART. Your AMP should have a number of inputs and at least one output. Connect the tv to the output and your blu ray and Sky box to the inputs, simples!

Cheers Chris, the Bluray and Amp are the same box as its a one box home cinema kit. So its,

HDMI from Sky box to Home Cinema Kit.
Optical cable from Sky box to the Home Cinema Kit ?
HDMI from Home Cinema kit to TV?
Is this right or does Optical go from either the Sky or Home Cinema box to Tv?

Also for now I will be using the Sky+ box which has no HDMI output, do I connect this via Scart and where to, is it the Home Cinema box again? Not sure if the Sky+ box has an Optical out and if i need to connect this?

Trying to justify the extra £10 a month to upgrade to SkyHD, know I should with the TV but just not sure Eastenders and Coronation Street really need it.

Connections sound right but shame on you for watching soaps HD is worth it with a good TV. You can really see the difference. You will need to check out the inputs on your home cinema kit for the Sky box. There will be manual with it which should show the inputs but scart should be ok. As said already home cinema is addictive. I have Monitor Audio speakers with a Marantz Amp and 6 months on my wife has still not forgiven me

I've just purchased a Panasonic TXP50GT30 televsion and am also contemplating the Panasonic SCBTT370 all-in-one sound system (both of which won the What Hi-Fi 2011 awards in their respective categories). Any thoughts on this combo? Do I also need to buy an amplifier?

I'm a complete AV novice and not looking to spend a fortune.

If its an all in one box sound system it will include an amp.

That looks a decent price, pity I just spent quite a bit more on a Samsung one although it has more features and also keeps all the equipment the one brand so remotes work together etc.

My Samsung tv and sound system now both work from either remote and can also. E controlled via an app on my iPhone which is very cool.
