OK who has 305s out back?
I need more traction. Too much power. I want 305s. I have a 2008 e93 335i with sport suspension, lowered 1/2" past stock on KWV2 coilovers. I want to fit Bridgestone Potenza RE11 in 305/30-19 on 19x11 or 19x10.5 wheels without changing the stock camber settings. I have a few questions I'm hoping you can help me with.
1. What offset fits? I'm thinking 42+/- a couple mm. 2. Can I get away with rolling the fenders or do I need to stretch them too? 3. Who makes rims that will work and don't cost $1000+ a piece? 4. Can you post pics and detailed description of what you did to achieve fitment? I was looking at super deep concave forgestar F14 and M14. Thx!

Yeah gonna be impossible unless you want some camber (not even sure if that'll work) or go widebody

You should be looking at 18's if you want more traction.

I really think a mild fender pull will do it. I'm running 295/25/20 Hankook V12's on a 10.5" rim. Can't remember offset, it's a custom wheel. When I swapped from 285 to 295, I ended up pulling the fender maybe 1/4". It's not that noticeable unless you stare at the body line from the rear bumper. I have no more room between the shock and wheel, but I've put a 10mm spacer on just to test and the tire still clears the arch. That means if I put a 5mm spacer on, I could run a 305 tire and clear on both sides.
It does rub with the 10mm spacer, but if I raised the car a bit it wouldn't. Right now my ride height is 24.25" fender to ground in rear so about 1.5" lower than OEM sport suspension. Camber is -1.8 which I think is right on the edge of spec, so nothing crazy. Pulling the fender isn't a huge deal. It's not really noticeable as I said since you're just taking the part that's flat and pulling it out a tiny bit. As long as you don't go too far, it all lines up since the quarter naturally flares out before flattening. FWIW, it's very hard to roll the fender at all without pulling it some. Here's a picture of how it looks. That pic shows it with a 5mm spacer on and you can see there's still clearance. It also shows how the pulled quarter looks. FWIW Hankook V12 Evo2s run pretty narrow. I compared a set I put on the rear of my M3 to my BFG SC2s and it was a pretty big difference in width. When you start getting to the slimmest of margins, actual tire width matters a lot. And a +42 on a 10.5" wheel is going to be close to touching the inner wheel liner. I put 18x11+34 on my M3 and had to trim the inner liner a bit to keep it from rubbing. At fully unloaded suspension, the front of the tire touched the subframe ear as well.
Personally I'd go for more of a grip-based selection on tire vs a specific size. A 200TW tire like an RS3, AD08R, Rival, etc even in a smaller size are going to grip significantly better than a set of Evo2s or PSS lol

before you increase the width of the tires im assuming you already have all the other stuff to aid with your traction problems? bushings, arms, lsd, etc.?
putting wider tire wont do you any good if you have to camber it more. you'll have less contact patch with the ground. |
