I keep saying I'm not driving it until the spring. But any time it's been clear i have to take it out for a bit. It's intoxicating to me right now, especially with IAT's in the high 20's!!!

I remember my dad gave me a 10 AMP Schumacher battery charger many years ago, and I found it. It's got surface rust on it, cob webs, probably 25 years old. I hooked it up to my SUVs battery, turned it on, and the needle jumped to 5, so, I think it works!

Is there anyway to test that it works? Perhaps with a volt meter?

I drive mine often, but not when the roads are wet. I don't want to do the flash until I know I can drive it immediately afterwards. 3 days of rain/snow/ice in the forecast here (Virginia).

Want reliable 500hp for about $1500 on stock turbo's, stock fuel pumps, 30% E85 use, then do this. I did, and loving it! Incredible and easy!

I started my MHD OTS Maps flash, I see multiple options and don't know which one to select for stage 1:

V9.0 BETA MAPS
V8 MAPS
FORMER V7 MAPS
FORMER V6 MAPS
FORMER V5 MAPS

Went with V8 maps, I assume that's the latest stable version

Unfortunately I received a "Failed to write to ECU".

I am using the OBD II Wifi Dongle from ECS Tuning: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-thor-par...SABEgKVw_D_BwE

Avoid V8,

Run v7 or v9, both run well.

Does the Thor dongle even support MHD in the first place?

I was under the impression, you had use a MHD dongle, if you wanted to flash wirelessly.

I've been chatting with MHD over email. They continue to refer me to their user's guide, which I reviewed before I started the flash.

I have ordered the MHD Wireless OBDII Wifi Flash Adapter from Burger.

MHD also told me to use a 25 amp or higher battery charger. I was using a 25 amp one at the time so I am hoping it's just the connector/connection. They also said to make sure I have WiFi with my phone set to Airplane mode. Why do I need WiFi? Unfortunately I don't get WiFi in my garage.

You just need wifi turned on your phone so you can connect to the wifi MHD dongle.
Not a internet wifi connection.
As stated above do not use v8. V9 and v7 are good.

Success!! Flashed Stage 1 late last night using the cables versus Wi-Fi dongle. Took her out for a drive. Wow, at 2800 RPMs and higher the pull is amazing. Hearing the BOV go woooooosh is pretty cool too.

It feels like it's hesitating slightly on initial acceleration though and the transmission shifting feels a little jerky now (automatic).

Upgraded the PCV today to this: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ftp-moto...t/sg84036~ftp/

The outer housing came off easy with a 13mm socket (took a while). The valve itself did not pull out, I had to gently use a pair of plyers to unscrew it, which seemed odd from the DIY videos I watched. In all the videos I watched it pull out easily.

Car started and ran fine, checked for codes. I have 2 codes now:

DME active codes -
2F71 - DME: Electronics-box fan, activation.

- DME shadow (inactive) codes -
30FF - DME: Turbocharger, charge-air pressure too low.

Any suggestions?

It seems odd this happened right after replacing the PCV valve, like immediately after. Also, what does "inactive" and "Shadow" mean?

Codes that occurred at some point but not necessarily present.

If you clear them and they come back, then it can be cause for concern, depending on what code it is.

Correct, per MHD:

"Shadow means the error code is not currently present"

I cleared the codes this morning and let the car idle in the garage for a while. It's got a shake/shimmy at idle it never had before I replaced the PCV valve, strange. It's like someone is bumping into the car with their body, the car moves slightly.

Ugh, wishing I had not replaced the PCV value now. I may put the previous one back in and see what happens.

Unlikely your PCV Valve had anything to do with the shaky idle.

Read codes again and Post a log,

I agree, no new codes after letting it idle for a while and revving it a few times.

Raining here so I can't take her for a drive though.

As much work as it is to remove the cowl and beauty cover I am wondering if I bumped a hose off or something. But for that it's fairly easy to work on these engines, so far.

mine bumps/hiccup/shake too once in a while when idling, but it's not constant, it's just one shake sometimes, read somewhere that some n54 often does that, even from the factory or with low mileage.

If you never read and cleared codes maybe it's just old codes after all, delete them and worry about them if it pop up again.

Mine does this at idle also. Glad to hear I am not the only one.
Not sure which version the op is using but I don't find the idle very nice on V9. My car seems to vibrate more. When I switched back to V7 I couldn't believe how much nicer the idle was.

MHD V9. I did not notice the issue until Saturday, after replacing the PCV valve.
