N54/N55 Bedplate What Sealant??

I am rebuilding the bottom end of an N55 and I will need to reseal the bedplate to the block when I put the crank back in. Does anyone know what sealant will work well for this? I know that when they were built new the sealant was injected through nozzles in the gap area between the two pieces but now I heard they just recommend a common sealant. Has anyone sealed one of these back up and had no problems? If so what did you use? I am sure I can just use some loctite gasket maker stuff but would like to be sure.

Garage List
Loctite 193140. Its intended for injection. You'll need new injection valves and the tool to compress the tube. ECS carries a kit.

Follow the procedure exactly if you want to guarantee a leak free seal.

Built two motors using anaerobic sealant from autozone. Used old nozzle plugs. Just make sure both surfaces are clean and put a bead in the notch on one side. Will harden once you have the seals in.

Did you inject the autozone sealant?

I used anaerobic sealant and applied it directly to the bed plate before assembly. There has been no problems in the last 2 years.

You want to use an Anaerobic sealant. Something that cures in the absence of oxygen. That was if any squeezes out and get in your oil pan, it's won't harden up and cause any issues.

If you don't wand to use the BMW injection kit (which used Anaerobic sealant), most people use this...Permatex Anaerobic Sealant. See link

+1 For what iqraceworks posted. That is exactly what I used for two rebuilds. I have had zero issues and no leaks with it.
