Installing OEM turbo inlets
Hey everyone,
Had I quick question and wanted to see people response. I live in cali and I've done some moding to my 07 335i and its time for smog. Nothing extreme like single turbo or anything. Visually you can see the Charge pipe with tial BOV, DCI, VRSF inlets (have aluminum outlets installed to), a BMS aluminum oil cover, ECS tuning oil catch can. Gave it a shot and tried to get it smogged as is. Expectedly the guy turned me down and said I needed to swap everything back to OEM. So here I am. Now I have most of the OEM parts, and swapping them back wont be too much of an issue. What I'm concerned about the most is the VRSF inlets for the turbos and swapping them back to the OEM. When the frame was dropped and turbos was out, I had all the space to do this. Now not so much.. So I looked around for an alternative way to install them back. I came across this vid where someone unbolted the subframe and lowered the engine enough to get the rear inlet free and clear from the firewall. (video I'm referencing to. Subframe drop at 5:00; ) I was thinking about this method to get the OEM inlet back their for install but before the install. My question is would the trans be under a lot of tension since the engine is lowered and will it damage it?? Will it bend or warp the driveshaft? Has others used this method?? Any info would help greatly! Thanks! |
