E92 335i Muffler options?

I currently have muffler deletes on my car, but with the secondary cats still in place. The drone is absolutely terrible and the noise draws everyones attention, the good and the bad. The last thread I could find was from about 6 years ago and wanted to know my options for mufflers. The only ones I could really find were the magnaflow universal ones on ECS tuning, everybody else just seems to sell the exhausts as a whole. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

those cat are probably shot, still have the oem resonator? hard to beat the stock mufflers, i be more inclined to do an xpipe/resonator delete with stock muffler in place for civility. the vrsf system is hard to beat (cost and performance imo) and you can add resonator and cats

I'm running the stock exhaust with DP's, and secondary cats swapped out for vibrant resonators. Definitely sounds louder that stock, but pretty tame at cruising speeds and on the highway...no drone at all. Nice and tight sounding, not raspy or tin-can sounding. Once you start to get on the gas and the rpms get up over 3K, it really starts to get some volume to it, but still not raspy sounding.

I've heard enough "muffler delete" 335i's to know that I didn't want my car sounding like that.....just to obnoxious and tin-can/raspy sounding.

If you want to put mufflers back on the car, I would just find a good muffler shop...they should be able to put a set of Magnaflow mufflers (like you mentioned) back on the car and make things look nice. I wonder if you could find some stuck mufflers on ebay that someone cut off for cheap?

Here's a video...I have the MHD burbles turned on low/min, with a very short duration. During normal driving it doesn't pop or crackle, but you you rev it up pretty good it will do it a little.

By the way....that is condensation steaming off in the video, not smoke. I took that video a while back and it was really cold out

iqraceworks your car sounds great!

OP, I have the PE mod, VRSF downpipes, and secondaries still in place and it sounds very similar to the car above.

IMO a slightly modified stock setup is a great way to go. My car is quiet enough inside that you'd never know it wasn't stock but it's noticeable outside or when you're on it. I genuinely dislike loud exhausts and mine is not annoying.

The M2/Circuitwerks (HKS rep) setup on ebay is actually decent and sounds great for the money.

The AE exhaust is no longer made but is by far the best sounding setup for these IMO. If you can find one, buy it lol.

You could also snag a used 335is muffler, those sound great as well and can be had for about $350-400.

No longer have the stock mufflers, are you talking about the VRSF street exhaust or the race? The E92 just has the X pipe/no resonator, I was surprised how quiet it was after installing downpipes with the stock mufflers.. I deleted the mufflers and it sounded great, especially with the 19T's and inlets, the drone after a 30 minute drive just gives me a headache..

Maybe deleting the secondary cats is the way to go, that does sound nice... One of the reasons for me deleting the stock mufflers was for the weight advantage, they weigh a little over 50 lbs. Without gutting the interior I was able to bring the car weight down to just a little over 3400 lbs, shaved a tenth of a second off my 1/4 mile time.

I saw some PE mods on YouTube and it does sound really good, doesn't it entail cutting out part of the stock muffler? I would jump on the AE exhaust immediately if I could find one lol, RIP PW.

Yes it does, you could pick up a set of stockers for dirt cheap though and do the mod. 335is would be similar and maybe more worth your time for just a little more money

I have the same set up as iqraceworks but I have 335is mufflers.

My exhaust note has more growl than the stock set up, but no drone and no cabin noise. At idle and low rpm, most people can't even tell I'm catless unless they catch a whiff of the exhaust. Winding out the RPMs is always fun though pretty under the radar set up otherwise

Also running 335is mufflers with a catless downpipe on an n55 car. When paired with a valve controller, the exhaust can be nearly silent. No drone.

Stock mufflers w/ PE mod (DIY'd it with my dads welder), kitty-less DP, secondary delete (swapped to Vibrant resonators), x-pipe, and Burger Motorsport exhaust tips.

Prior to this setup I was muffler deleted (nothing else) for about a year and absolutely hated it.

that might be a nice option.

I had ; vsrf downpipe, stock mid pipe and real bmw performance exhaust at 2k$.
And the sound was awful, like real shit, worst than a beat up 1992 civic.

And I was 6mt, so I didnt have the awful hesitation hiccup sound when the auto shifts.

I know its a popular setup, but sorry, this was terrible.
