Anyone know what this broken pipe/tube is for?

Go to https://www.realoem.com/ and enter the last 7 digits of your VIN. That will bring up a variety of parts diagrams and allow you to narrow in on just what hose that is.

It's some sort of breather hose and will need to be replaced. If you're lucky, the other end of that hose is somewhere as easily accessible as the end in your photo. Someone with N47 expertise (there aren't a ton of those in the US relative to the gas engines) will know more.
